because i do what’s logical!

I just worked until 1am, arriving home at 2 am, which is actually 3am because of daylight savings. I have to be back at work by noon, which requires leaving here by 11am, which requires getting up no later than 10 am which means 7 hours of sleep if i fell asleep ten minutes ago. So of course, then, the logical thing for me to do is write in my diary.

The things that happen at my job… man, sometimes it’s all i can do to just laugh and shake my head. My boss recently read an article that it is illegal to print the expiration date and/or more than the last 5 digits of a credit card number on a receipt. There is currently a class action lawsuit against several companies that were printing this information on receipts, including Victoria’s Secret (get in on it if you have any VS receipts saved ladies! You can get between 100-1000 per receipt that has your info printed on it! But I digress.)

Now, combine this information with the fact that when a table wants to pay a check with more than one credit card, or with a combination of credit and cash, we would write down the full card number, card type (visa, mc, amex), and expiration date on the back of the check. Being as my boss just discovered this is illegal, you might think we would stop that now. And you would be right…. partially. NOW she wants that instead of writing the info on the back of the check where the customer could potentially see it, we have to write it down in a little log book. Because that’s so much better *eyeroll*. The whole point of it is, she knows it’s illegal, but we basically have to do it in a manner where we are less likely to get caught. Marvellous.

Working there tries my sense of ethics daily.
