disgusted.

Yesterday I went Christmas shopping.

I made my first purchase at the jewelry counter, and though the total came to slightly more than I’d intended to spend there, everything was well. I went through the store then to make the rest of my purchases. I got up to the front counter, and once again the total came to slightly more than I’d intended to spend–in fact, it came to slightly more than I actually had. So I had to remove a few items from the order–always embarrassing. But then the total came to a total that I knew was definitely in my account. I ran my card through…. and it was denied. WTF? I tried to remove a few more things to see if that would work. In the meantime, a representative from Wachovia Securities called my cell phone to verify the purchase that I was attempting to make. I told her that yes, I was trying to make that purchase, but it was denying my card. She said to try using my PIN number to make it go through. I did, and it still didn’t.

The girl at the register was now visibly exasperated with me. I told her that I knew the money was there, and I was calling my bank again. She said that she was going to have to void out my entire order in the meantime because I was holding up her line. Bitch.

I spoke with someone else from Wachovia, who again verified that I definitely had the funds in my account for the purchase amount I was trying to make. I got off the phone and the girl asked me if I had decided what I wanted to keep. I told her that I had the money for all of it, so I wanted all of it. Well, she told me, I have to re-ring all of it, so start taking it out of the bags.

While she was re-ringing my order she dropped a bag of gift bows on the floor. I was still taking other things out of the bags, and then rebagging them after she rang them, so I didn’t tell her immediately. Then I ran my card through (it went) and left the store.

When I got home, I started going through my bags and my reciept and that was when I realized that I never remembered to get the gift bows that she dropped on the floor. Shit. On top of that, I was looking at the prices on my receipt and I realized that one of the things that I’d purchased two of, rang up at the original price, whereas the second one rang up at the sale price–an $8 difference. Plus there was the stuff I’d taken off my order that I actually *could* afford but had never re-added to my order. But I’m just so disgusted with the entire experience, I don’t think I want to go back. blech.

But at the same time I want my eight bucks and my goddamnned gift bows!

PS merry christmas *sigh*
