“hey, funny story!” temporarily misdirected
One of my cousins had a barbeque party yesterday. My sister Amanda had come in her own car after work, while my other sister and my parents went in my dad’s car. When Amanda decided to leave, Corryn and I left with her.
Now something that’s important for this story. Rt 100 leads to Rt 422, which goes in two directions. East goes towards King of Prussia. West goes towards Reading. We were driving FROM Reading, on 422. Okay now, the rest of the story.
Amanda: I think I just passed the exit for 100
Me: Oops. Are you sure?
Amanda: Well I saw a sign for 100 and it was pointing that way *motions right* but I didn’t see an actual exit ramp.
Me: Well, just drive a little farther to see if we see something we recognize.
We pass the signs for Limerick, a sign we recognized, and we know are near the exit we want to be, but not how to actually get home from ther. So we keep driving, and then I see a sign for Royersford.
Me: Oh! I know where we are! The last time I went to King of Prussia Mall, Nick took this exit because he knew the back way from here. But it was before 100, so 100 is still up ahead.
Amanda: Are you sure?
Me: Umm… i think… yea, yea i’m sure.
So we keep driving. At this point we pass signs for Route 29: Collegeville and Phoenixville. And although 29 would take us home, I assure Amanda that she doesn’t want to go that way because it’s annoyingly traffic laden.
And then we start seeing signs for Route 23, and Valley Forge, and realization dawns on me.
Ummm… Hey guys… Funny story!
Oh god, my sister moans between laughing, this isn’t going to be funny
I promise, you’ll get a kick out of this. See I just realized, although i DID say it, that when I took the back way from Royersford, we were coming FROM King of Prussia. Right now, we’re headed towards King of Prussia. By the time we got to Royersford, we were past the exit for 100.“
Cracking up, along with my other sister in the front seat, she says, “That’s not funny.”
Laughing myself, “Yes it is.”
Amanda:”So where can we turn around?”
Me: Well we’re close enough to the mall now, you might as well just turn around in the mall parking lot.
Amanda: oh god.. how far out of our way are we?
Me: about 20 minutes out of our way, but still 40 minutes from home
Amanda: I can’t believe you got us lost.
Me: we’re not lost. i know exactly where we are. we were just temporarily misdirected.
