arrogance, pt. 2

I’ve been told before that I care too much about how other people feel. What can I say? Generally, I’m a pretty selfless person. I often change my ways to make things more convenient for others. It is part of why I’m so horrible at making decisions. And yes, sometimes it means I get walked on. Like freshman year when after the first month, I was the only one who ever cleaned the bathroom (including scrubbing that black mold stain off the floor of the shower stall the day before christmas break) I was the only one who ever did the pile of dishes in the sink, even though I only dirtied my one little cup and one little dish. I was the only one who ever cleaned out the group refridgerator, even though all of my food was in my mini fridge in my room. Rather than let us all live in squalor to make a point, I cleaned. But I digress

There’s definitely something to be said about being a little selfish some of the time. If you don’t take care of number one, who else can you expect to? Sometimes not caring what other people think, is actually good for your own mental health.

Selfishness, or self-centeredness, is one thing. But to deliberately inconvenience people for the sake of making a point that you don’t care what they think, is just plain arrogant and rude. That is how you alienate people.

That’s about all I have to say on the subject without getting too specific.
