It’s a girl!!
My sister sent me a text message yesterday afternoon letting me know that she’d had her 20 week ultrasound, and her baby would be a girl. I kind of had known it would be a girl, although I’d been hoping it would be a boy, and here’s why. The name she’d picked out for a girl was Nevaeh pronounced neh-VAY-ah. I liked the name itself–the way it sounded, but I could not get over the spelling, which she loved because it was heaven spelled backwards. I figured that if she had a boy, I’d have more time to talk her out of this particular spelling, because I found it burdensome and confusing, even for me. I could only imagine what the child’s poor future teachers would have to go through.
So upon finding out that she was indeed having a girl, I had to do some quick damage control. I told her exactly what I thought of the name (loved it) and the spelling (hated it). She, wonder of wonders, AGREED with me!!! She said she’d thought about switching the e and the a at the end of the name, since the most common mistake that both she and I were making was to switch them. After that had been so easy (almost too easy) I also suggested she drop the h at the end. And again, she LIKED it!!! I was shocked at how easy it was–I was afraid she’d be mad at me for saying I didn’t like it.
Nevea Isabelle. Sounds like heaven to me. 🙂
Check out my entry 5 little piggies and tell me what you think of it.
