OD Survey!

1) What does your online diary name mean, and why did you pick it? rahrah24seven. It was my AIM s/n at the time (still is). The first part, rahrah is because I’m a cheerleader. rah rah sis boom bah get it? the second part 24seven is how often I felt like I was cheerleading. 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

2) When did you first get an online diary? Diary Started: 11/19/2003 9:19:58 PM

3) Why did you first start an online diary? A friend of mine had one, so I started one on another site that I didn’t like very much.

4) How did you find OpenDiary.com? it was the site that my friend used, that I switched to after realizing that I didn’t like the other site.

5) When writing an entry, do you believe you are writing for you or the reader? I like to believe that I’m writing for me, but there are somethings that I avoid writing because of how I fear it would make certain people percieve me. I’m getting better at simply not caring though.

6) When writing an entry, are you completely honest? I sometimes leave things out, but I never lie.

7) Describe your writing setting: Typical college dorm. Only better, because I live by myself.

8) Is anyone that you know (in real life) allowed to read your diary? I have a link posted to it in my AIM profile and my facebook. Everyone from the friend that showed me this site, to several other friends from high school, to my little sister and my mother read this diary.

9) Do you know anyone in real life with a diary, which you are allowed to read? nearly everyone i mentioned above has their own blog on one of various sites, the most common being xanga, livejournal, myspace, and of course OD. (even my mom blogs on myspace occasionally, although I haven’t read it recently).

10) Has anyone found your diary that you really didn’t want to find it? People have read entries that I didn’t think they’d read, but if I really didn’t want people to find it, I’d probably hide it better. However, I used to keep another diary–a sex tell-all diary– which my mother found. I don’t believe she ever knew that I knew it was her. (Although I guess she knows now :-P). It was shortly after that that I made that diary Favorites Only.

11) Do you believe writing in your online diary is therapeutic? Absolutely.

12) How many entries do you have? 373 public, 23 favorites only, 195 private.

13) Do you have any entries that are private? yes, see above

14) If you answered yes to that, (with out getting too personal), why don’t you want people to see them? At the moment, it’s mostly organizational purposes. they were all entries that will be public (or FO) eventually, but they were imported from other diaries, so they’re currently out-of-order. Also there are some entries that I started a thought and got busy, so I saved the entry on private, to come back to it, and then forgot about it. Some random quiz things are on private because I did them too soon after I posted an entry, and didn’t want to post something meaningless right away. And there are exactly two entries that are private only because at the time I only wanted one person in particular to see them (and gave said person a reader’s password in order to do so). They’ll also probably be public eventually though.

15) How many favorites do you have? too damn many. 76

16) Do you know who your first favorite was? DaFishey, My friend Alex, without whom I never would have found this place. Okay, maybe not never but it would have taken me longer.

17) Have you ever written an entry while too intoxicated? define “too”? lol. I’ve written entries while buzzing. but never while extremely intoxicated. I can’t even see the screen when I’m that intoxicated.

18) Do you feel accepted by the diary community? Definitely yes. Especially since the advent of the OD Message Boards

19) Have you secretly fell in love (or had a crush on) a diarist? Yes I’ve had multiple crushes on several diarists. And yes, I’ve fallen in love with one. It’s not a secret though. He knows, as do several of my best friends. But it’s more the communication that we have outside of OD that did it. He doesn’t write often enough for me to fall in love with his diary 😛

20) Have you ever read an entry that really moved you? Yes, although I can’t think of specifics off the top of my head.

21) Has anyone written an entry that made you cry? Yes, same answer as above. (not to mention the fact that I’ve written several entries myself literally *through* tears.)

22) What are your favorite kinds of entries to read? Thought provoking. Controversial. Very very personal. Extremely funny/witty/completely insane.

23) After writing an entry, how long do you wait to see if you have notes? 30 seconds. Record time was 10 seconds after I wrote, I already had a note.

24) If you don’t have notes, do you feel let down? A little. I won’t lie.

25) How many notes do you usually get? Per entry… I’d say I average around 10-12.

26) Did you know the more notes you leave, the more notes you get? er duh.

27) Do you delete mean or nasty notes? Not usually. I have before if they were especially mean, if they were public. That’s part of why I have private notes. I don’t care if people say mean things to me, I just don’t want everyone else to hear what other people have to say to me 😛

28) Have you ever left a nasty note and not signed your name? never. I expect people to own up to their actions, and I do the same.

29) Have you ever left a note on a person’s diary, just to make them feel better? all the time– have you ever recieved a note that’s just a smiley face or a *hugs* or sometimes just a blank note from me? Yea, i’m trying to make you feel better, even if I don’t know exactly how to do it.

30) Do you keep a paper copy of your online diary? No.

31) Do you go back and re-read your past entries? yea, it usually starts with me lookin for something specific, and then I get stuck in the past

32) What’s the most interesting thing you can think of about Opendiary? How the name Open Diary is so fitting, because it really is the most truly open online community that I’ve had the pleasure to be a member of. The other sites like myspace, xanga, etc, seem very isolationist, and don’t really make it very easy to find new people to read, or for people to find you. The best feature ever, is definitely the “latest posts” page.
