girls vs. boys

Weekly Theme Entry: If you had to hang out with a group of girls or a group of boys, which would you pick? Why?

I don’t know why I picked this week to write about the theme, and to be quite honest, this theme does seem a little juvenile. But, I need to write more, and since my life revolves around fish and work, there’s not really anything interesting to say. So. Here we go.

This question isn’t as black and white as it may appear. It largely depends on who the girls and guys are. Obviously I would rather hang out with a group of girls that I knew really well than a group of guys that I only knew one or two of them. And obviously I’d rather hang out with my best girl friends than just any guys at all. But that works vice versa as well. I’d rather hang out with a group of guys that I knew really well than a group of girls that I only knew a couple of them. An exception to this rule however, would be if one of my best friends was included in the group of girls. It would seem that I have more really close girl friends than really close guy friends, and that would be true. And the few good guy friends that I do/did have.. well most of them are girl friends boyfriends. Or ex-boyfriends. And OBVIOUSLY it would be prudent to protect my friendships to choose to hang out with a girl friend over her ex. Duh.

Ironically, however, if it were to come down to a group of guys vs a group of girls, in which I was acquainted with both groups on the same level, or near the same level, I’d choose to hang out with the guys. That’s not to say that I’m a tomboy or anything like that. In fact I’ve often been referred to as a “girly girl.” I just generally get along with guys better. Girls can be *cougharecough* catty, bitchy, moody… etc, etc… Guys tend to be more laid back… just wanna have fun types. I like that attitude. Even at work, I tend to identify with my male coworkers more than the females.

Now, of course, it should be mentioned, that none of the above generalizations really apply to the Penguins. And of course, if it came down to a choice of Penguins vs. anybodyelse, Penguins win. Despite the fact that Ren, Carlini, and I especially are prone to mood swings and the general characteristics of girls that I described above, JM by herself is usually the opposite-of-girly enough to bring us back to the fun-loving, laid back characteristics of typically guys groups that I like so much. Penguins, in fact (sans boys b/c we hate boys now :-P), are the perfect balance.
