don’t give up!!
ok… this entry is directed at two of my very best friends who have been dating for almost two months, and are starting to, shall i say, drift? well, from someone who has slightly more experience in relationships than the both of you combined, here is my honest and straightforward advice. First and foremost, dont give up!!! I know you have been having some problems the past few weeks, and while i don’t know all of the details (nor do i really care to know, unless you really want me to know) i can pretty much make a fairly decent conjecture about the situation, based on my previous experience.
What’s happening is, your relationship is moving out of what we term the “honeymoon stage” this is the stage where everything seems to be absolutely blissful… you can’t get enough of each other… your hormones are ruling your mind… after a little while, this initial honeymoon stage fades away… then you start to really see what the other person is like, and while you still like them, little things that he/she says or does seem to get on your nerves; then you’re pushing your significant other’s buttons for no apparent reason, and sometimes without realizing it. This is the stage where many new, especially high school relationships fall apart.
But i know, that if you can stick through this and talk out your differences, you’ll find that you care about each other too much to let go. You two make one of the most perfect couples i’ve ever encountered, and it would be sad if something so beautiful ended over trivial matters. Now that’s not to say that i think you guys are in danger of falling apart, its just a matter of me wanting to make sure it doesn’t happen.
Now by the same token, if there’s something really bothering either one of you and you feel that you need space or something to that effect, you shouldn’t stay together just because other people say you should.
i guess what i’m basically saying, is that you need to take a look inside at what you’re really feeling underneath the “annoyances” and figure out what it is you really want. if you want to be with who you’re with, then suck it up and stick with it… if not, well, not everyone’s “meant to be”… just follow your heart… and don’t think too hard, thinking’s dangerous stuff
and if either of you ever need someone to talk to, you know how to reach me
peace
~Jen
