DPM #1 and stuffs

Epic fail for NJM, but you know what?  I hit my NaNo goal, didn’t vanish from the Tower, and updated various other blogs here and there when I had the chance, so I’m ok with that.  🙂

Now that all my words aren’t commited to the word count calculator and I don’t feel guilty writing non-novel/tower things, I’m hoping to pop on here a bit more often, maybe even regularly.  Would be nice, I do miss catching up on everyone’s lives.  I’ve been mainly skimming entries on the rare occassion I have managed to pop by, however my brain is still full of NaNo good and shrapnol so not much is sticking.

In the realm of non wedding news, Dread Pirate is running a new D&D campaign starting next week, and I’m playing a Drow Seeker named Karayan (which means "little dark one").  I’m looking forward to it, it’s been weird not playing every week!  Silly geeks…

Early October our Geek Night imploded in a smurdge of goo and shrapnol (which is where that expression comes from, thank you to lilMeg from NaNo).  Our wonderful crowd of geeks have a habit of sending passive agressive emails through out the week and then being all honky dory on Friday nights like they weren’t standing around in near tears from bandied insults the rest of the week.  Farrah was running Legacy, and when Farrah runs he puts his whole heart into the game…he goes as far as printing out our ‘clues’ on special paper and burning the edges, or baking them so they’re all crumbly.  He loves the rp part of rpgs where as the rest of the group is more about the g aspects.

The Paladin (who was playing an Eladrin Wizard, lol) sent me an in character email and cc’d Farrah.  It was all conversational and what not, plotting what to do when we ran into the Drow tha we were looking for, who couldn’t reveal his character’s true identity.  Farrah then sent out a group email that was a cease and desist request for out of game plotting/emails/conspiracies that would effect the game, as he spends a lot of time planning the following week’s game based on where we left off the previous week.  I dunno, to me that sounded like a reasonable request.  Apparently there were also a few snootier emails between Farrah and The Paladin that the rest of the group wasn’t privvy to.  Anywho, Dread Pirate suggested that maybe a comprimise could be reached, and we could have all emails done by Sunday night, thus giving Farrah the rest of the week to plan.

You know the phrase ‘the shit hit the fan’?  Well yeah, that.  Next thing we all know Farrah is going on and on about how come we can’t respect a simple request, and unlike the rest of the group DMs, he actually puts effort into the plot, not just the battle scenes, and he likes to make the *story* interesting and he’s the best DM we have and has been doing it for longer and he thinks he knows how to run a game and who are they to tell him how to run his game.

It should be, at this time, noted that Farrah is the MOST DRAMATIC of the group and gets very easily bent out of shape, and frequently says things like "well since no one really wants me there anyway I’m just going to stay home" or "if you don’t want me to play then I won’t play" when NO ONE even implied that we don’t want him playing.  *le sigh*

So Dread Pirate, who rarely breaks his even keel of emotion much less actually gets ///angry/// blows up and after several ‘did not did too are not are too’ emails, requests to be removed from the email list, and announces that he will not play anymore when Farrah runs, and will not run if Farrah is playing.  He’s fine with being in the same group if neither are running, and has no non-Geek Night issues with him, but that’s that.

Thus, the Rebellion formed.  Dread Pirate and The Paladin, and Coach who wasn’t really involved but gets annoyed at Farrah very quickly broke from the group and started their own.  It’s been a standing joke that I’m Leia, and I better let Xed know where the secret rebel base is or he’s going to blow up Tatooine.

…so it’s going to be a fairly epic (which is the word of the ’09 writing season) adventure taking place on earth motes in the Skies of Aerth.  (I may have just lost all but Pip…)  But the important part is, we’re playing again, though sans Farrah who is trying to rally a group together for an alternate Friday game, and is I think a little tiffed with me for not joining.

Back in the real world, this morning a check I wrote for over a grand cleared, paying off one of the outstanding bills from my PRL (pre responsible life).  I only have one more big one to go, the credit card from when my car was totaled (long time ago) and then it’s just a bunch of smaller utility type bills that I still have a measly balance on.  Yay for getting my credit back on track, woot!  So glad that Toyota is off my back!

That’s about it for today, I’ll leave you with DPM #1:

"Countin’ trumpets on the wall fiery flame will kill us all
And I hear trumpets ringing in my head before I go to sleep
Takes me back way back when we were young and we were friends
Now I’m home alone smokin’ cigarettes waitin’ by the phone
Sweet Virgina blue skies early mornin’ sunrise
I can see your spirit dancin’ next to mine"
