Life Never Stops

Sadly, life never stops. I am definitely feeling it lately and am craving some serious time to myself to recharge. I must be in a downswing with my mood too which always seems to make this reality even more apparent. I am definitely to the point where I am ready for summer to be here and not worry about "school" for awhile. I need as much of a break from it as John does (if not more).

The kids and I are not feeling too well today so we are having a lazy day which tends to mean lots and lots of TV. I’m trying not to feel guilty about it but since I have no energy (physical or mental), I’ll just have to get over it. We must have picked up some kind of stomach thing although we each have manifested it in entirely different ways. John, as usual, becomes a behavioral disaster and has had more issues with diarrhea. Lily, on the other hand, ended up passing out for three hours yesterday afternoon and woke up like death swooped in with a high fever and aches. An hour after she went to bed was when her body waved the white flag and promptly emptied the contents of her stomach. And let me tell you, this is not fun in a bunk bed. I don’t know how she did it but she managed to get her bed on top plus all over the futon directly below her. Blech.

I seem to be plagued with complete lethargy and nausea. Thankfully I haven’t had to pray to the porcelain gods although I came mighty close while I helped clean up Lily’s disaster. I seem to feel best laying down. As soon as I sit up, the head starts swirling and my stomach turns. It’s not completely unmanageable and can handle sitting up for the most part. Toast is my friend.

I guess I’ll look at the bright side. At least we are sick at the same time rather than taking turns.

Hubby’s long business trip was uneventful. Long but manageable. Being busy with activities made the time fly. Hubby came back with a job offer to a new job. Well, a job offer from a company he worked at previously. (The one when John was born). The owner called out of the blue to ask hubby some opinion’s on things and they got to talking. The rest is history. He started last Thursday. The upside is it is not in the city but in a town south of us so he can drive with a commute of no more than 40 minutes. I’m sure that is a lot for some people but in Chicago it’s great, especially when he was commuting 90 minutes each way when he was going into the city. He will also have the opportunity to work half his time at home once he gets things in place. He is overseeing the technical/development department and they are rebuilding from the ground up. Hubby seems to be pretty excited about it.

I think the 50/50 set up will be good for everyone too. Hubby can still help out at home and we can still plan some of the things we want to do like get away more often. He can work while we’re in other places. But I think the office time will be good for him too.

We have a quick trip planned for next month. We’re heading out to PA for a couple of days to see hubby’s dad and Grandma. SIL will be there too. I still haven’t decided if this will be our trip for the year or not. With the price of gas and all, I’ll have to see what is manageable. I’d love to fly someplace for  a getaway but flight prices are insane. I may try for a last minute deal type thing.

And speaking of my need to recharge, hubby offered to watch the kids so I can finally take the weekend away that I’ve been talking about for over a year. I still can’t decide what or where. The problem is that I’m picky. We’ll see if something comes along.

Time to get lay on the couch again. The upside of this being a stomach thing, the kids aren’t asking to eat every 5 minutes.  Makes life a bit easier.

I wondered yesterday if L was coming down with something when you posted on FB about her epic nap. Ugh. Hope you’re all feeling better asap. A whole weekend away, just you? BLISS! Where are you thinking you might go?
