Crazy Month
I’m feeling run down today. I don’t know if the busy week caught up with me, the sugar challenge is wearing me down, or if I’m getting sick. Or maybe all three.
My throat is scratchy and feeling swollen. I can’t tell if it’s a beginning of a cold. I also had some mouth issues this past week. Thanks to eating popcorn, I cut my gum against one of my back molars. That, of course, means I can’t leave it alone with my tongue. I try hard not to but I’ll just realize I’m bugging it. My tongue hurts. My jaw hurts. Ugh! I even aggravated the taste buds on the back of my tongue so that hurts now too. It’s a mess but it is finally showing improvement. But unfortunately, Im still at the height of pain and feeling uncomfortable. So, yeah. I don’t know if the sore throat is from that or from a cold. I guess we’ll see.
The sugar challenge is definitely doing that – challenging me. I had a crappy experience in the kitchen yesterday. Dinner didn’t turn out the way I wanted it too so I’m dealing with the psychological desire to eat something sweet. I did okay but I did relent and mix up some goat cheese with a chopped up date and some walnuts. I do consider dates to fall into the sugar category since they are high in sugar but I decided it was better than grabbing a cookie or some chocolate.
i finally took the kids in to the dentist. I was a bit worried since I did it later than they expect you to but it all worked out. They have no cavities and the dentist was very complimentary. He said they had amazing teeth and that they were very well behaved. He even complimented me on homeschooling them and asked if i could convince his wife to do the same. 🙂 The office set up is great. The kids got to go back together and sit next to each other. Teeth cleaned, polished, and x-rays. All done in less than a half an hour. It was great. I was a bit shocked by the cost but insurance covers it all. It made me half wonder if they bloat the cost dependent on the type of coverage. Ugh.
It will be a crazy month. Hubby is gone 15 days this month. It will have good and bad aspects to it. We’ll keep busy but it will be hard when I need a break. It will be especially challenging on the trip he’s gone for 10 days and I have a weekend to get through.
I just wanted to get in an update but hopefully I can get something more substantial next week.
Yay for a good dental check-up! I didn’t take Madelyn til she was four… which I guess is considered “late” – but she had SUCH a gag reflex, it just wouldn’t have been worth it. Unfortunately she *has* battled cavities as she’s gotten a little older (soft teeth + crowding), but the dental team who takes care of them is awesome. She doesn’t even know it usually hurts…

Sam and Eva have been to the dentist for the past few years BUT this year is the frist time Sam actually opened his mouth, lol. All she does is count their teeth and see if there are cavities, they don’t get cleaned or polished or anything. Sam will get sealant on his molars once the last two cut through. That should be fun. *rolls eyes* Are you allowing yourself sweet fruit if you’re having a sugar craving? How’s it going this week?
