Snow, Couch, and Pictures

I find it depressing that we have yet to have snow stick to the ground yet.  I don’t like long winters that never end but I do like to have some snow, especially around Christmas.  And really, I would much rather have a blanket of snow than the dreary, cloudy, rainy weather we’ve seen the past couple of weeks.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a white Christmas.

Our Advent activity for today was to take a nighttime drive and see all the Christmas lights but I am not feeling it due to the lack of snow.  I enjoy the lights much more with the accents of snow and the lights peeping out through snow and ice.  John didn’t show much enthusiasm when he read the activity and they seem to have forgotten so I’m going to let it go and hope we’ll have a better opportunity in the coming week.

I also had a big day planned tomorrow with a trip into the city – a visit to the space museum, walk around to see the stores’ light displays, and dinner.  It’s supposed to rain.  Thunder even.  I’m going to swap it out for early next week in hopes for a better day to do it.

I’m really hoping my mom follows through and takes the kids this weekend.  I need the break and it would be a great opportunity to wrap presents and get all those last minute details ironed out.  That reminds me that I need to call my sister.

I can not believe Christmas is next week.  Ack!

Our new couch for the family room arrive yesterday.  Happy early Christmas to me!  I am so in love with our new couch.  It’s huge (we got and L-shaped sectional).  It’s comfortable.  It has great support.   I have marked the corner as my spot.  It’s perfect to curl up in, stretch out.  I am loving it.   Rozi, on the other hand, is having to adjust.  We are going to try and keep her off of it.

I still have yet to do any baking.  I haven’t had much desire to do any.  I don’t have much taste for it and if I had it around, I’d just sit around eating it anyway.  Better not to have it.  I’ll probably do some baking next week.  Sunday is my planned day to do our Gingerbread house.  Actually, I’m going to do a train with the kids this year.  It has four cars so I figured we’ll each take one to decorate.

I opted to take our annual Christmas photos just before the new couch arrived.  It was actually a positive experience for once now that the kids are willing to cooperate.  And with that, I’ll leave you with a couple of my favorites.

And here is one a friend of mine took for us.  It’s a little blurry but I still like it.
