The Plague

The plague has kept me away.  Oh Pink Eye, how I loathe thee.  Why couldn’t it have been easier?  Just have all of us get it at the same time so we could be miserable with each other and be done with it.  No.  You had to take us down one at a time.  As I’ve written before, John got it first. He woke up early Friday morning to let me know he was sure he was getting it and he was right.  I tried to be extra safe, and OCD about cleaning.  Plus we were leaving our vacation and by time we got home, John was supposed to be not contagious anymore thanks to the drops.  Slowly, he gets better and by day 6 he just has bloodshot looking eyes.  Thank goodness.  It’s over.

WRONG.  By that evening when I was just starting to breathe a little easier, Lily starts in with it.  Ugh.  She got it in both eyes right away and it was horrible.  It was like four days of screaming, whining, and yelling.  FOUR days.  I understood.  It hurt.  It was a pain in the ass.  but OMG.  Four days?!?!  I was grateful when it finally started to clear.  A week later (it was Thursday), it was almost gone, just like John, and she just had minor looking bloodshot eyes.  I was just starting to relax although I wasn’t going to breath easy until Monday. It’s over.

What?

What did you say?  It’s over?

Hahahahaha!  WRONG.

By Friday evening I just knew I was getting it.  Even after all my OCD efforts and wiping everything down a million times each day with some form of bleach like product.  I even asked my SIL if she felt like a cold was coming on just before she got it.  Not really.  Ugh.  So not only am I getting pink eye, I’m getting some form of cold too.  Joy.  Saturday, I’m in full swing.  Blurgh.  I stay diligent and thankfully the eye never fully puffed up or anything.  Annoying but fairly minor thankfully.  The cold just made up for it to make it feel worse.  Somehow I manage to contain it to one eye too.  Good.  Finally, the plague is over.

WRONG.

My eye is clearing up although my cold/sinus infection is lingering but a week later the sinus infection worsens.  And now my left eye hurts like the worst.  OMG.  I wanted to chop my head off.  It hurt.  It felt like my eyeball was going to pop out of my head.  I blamed all the sinus pressure.  I woke up on Saturday like hell and took myself to a care clinic at Walgreens to get more drops and consider antibiotics for the sinus infection.  I get the antibiotics but I never took them.  I’ll just stash them in case I may eed them for something in the next year instead.  The drops do wonders and in less then 24 hours my eye feels a ton better and I’m draining like a faucet.  At least it’s coming out, right?

I just look like a freak now since the afternoon after I went to the clinic, I had a huge coughing fit.  You know one of those kinds that makes you gag because you coughed so hard?  Yeah.  And then I blew my nose.  Then I looked in the mirror and freaked out.  Why?  my eye hemorrhaged.

See?

Well, this is just about 48 hours later.  Now it looks worse than it feels.  The first two days I could feel it – kinda like when a contact slips back on you.  I was paranoid to blow my nose anymore.  Ugh.

Now I just feel like a narcoleptic.  Seriously.  I could sleep all day at the moment.  My body apparently seriously wants to repair itself or something.  Too bad I have young children to take care of.  ðŸ™‚  And here’s hoping that in a couple of days, I can go back to a more normal life.  ðŸ™‚

On a positive note, the patio is done!  Yay!  And I actually won the Jazzercise challenge.  I was a bit shocked.  I figured the weighing almost nothing gal had won it.  Now I get to decide how to spend a $100.  Not a bad prize.  Now here’s hoping I can keep the motivation going to lose the rest.

Back on the boo side – my mom is having knee surgery on Wednesday.  I’m hoping it goes well and that she heals quickly.  She’s been ignoring the pain for too long so I’m hoping she can finally get back to some pain free living as well.  Hopefully I write about something more fun later this week.

Your eye color is so pretty! I’ve heard that those eye things often look worse than they really are. I hope it heals soon.
