Hero of the Day

The above is Minnie’s favorite Metallica song.  It’s hard not to like.

I believe I mentioned I started watching Fullmetal Alchemist first for some reason, even though I bought a pantload of new stuff that I actually hadn’t seen, but whatever, I’m doing it.  I even watched the episode "Night of the Chimera’s Cry," even though I told myself I wouldn’t.  It’s so goddamn sad.  For those who haven’t seen it, basically the main characters, the Elric brothers,  have been staying with a State alchemist named Tucker and his adorable little daughter Nina while they train to take the State alchemy exam.  For one whole episode and most of another the writers do everything in their power to make you love that little girl and her lisp, calling the Elrics "Big Bwothers" and whatnot, then they rip your soul directly out when Tucker snaps under the pressure of his upcoming assessment exams and turns his daughter and huge, lovable dog Alexander into a single, pathetic, Human-speaking creature known as a chimera.  I dare you not to shed a tear when Edward finds out what Tucker has done starts punching him in the face with his metal arm, only to have the chimera formerly known as Nina and Alexander say, "Pwease stop, Big Bwother," in it’s strange, deep voice.  Then, to top it all off, when NinaXander escapes and runs into the city, a man named Scar (one of the show’s early villains) takes "pity" on the creature who’s obviously in pain– I guess from being two living things suddenly forced to be one living thing– and utterly destroys it in an alley.  It doesn’t get much more tragic.

Unless, you know, you count how the whole show actually started.  Wikipedia that if you don’t already know the story.

So…. I need to feed my addiction.  Later!

ryn: I sometimes need the Heroic size. And Jason always does. We’ve started telling the waiter to just leave the pitcher at our table.

Re: Apparently! One or both could just… die. And, no, I don’t think losing a tooth would ever cause someone not to have children. There are people all over the south breeding (and possibly inbreeding) enough to prove otherwise. 😉
