Yikes…
I had to look at my most recent post because I couldn’t remember how long it’s been…and my last post was on July 30th.
Fegh.
I guess the highlights are that I now have a part-time job, working for JoAnn Fabrics & Crafts. I only made it to one of my shifts this past week because I caught a nasty, nasty stomach flu bug that still has me in it’s grip. It’s the first time I’ve been truly ill during my pregnancy and boy has it been rough. THT (who got the flu too, I think it’s been rougher on him than it was on me) is still looking for work (he has a couple of possibilities lined up but they are taking forEVER to come through, it seems like) but he has been doing a lot of the stuff around the house and yard that my dad hasn’t been available for because of his work schedule. He has also been able to go out hunting (well, really just tagging along as they trek around) with his brothers and spend some quality time with them. I was glad for him – he said they haven’t been able to spend time together like that since they all graduated from high school. I went with him on most of the trips and hung around the in-laws’ house and relaxed and worked on various crochet or cross-stitch projects.
My pregnancy has been going really well. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes at 28 weeks and that has been a pain (one more thing to keep track of…). However, I am getting down to the last 4 weeks and now I know what people mean when they say they are tired of being pregnant! She has dropped a little lower in my pelvis – which is a weird feeling – and I am just wondering when this whole labor thing is going to start. She would still be considered premature at this point – she’d be considered premature until the 37th week – and I’m not necessarily wanting that but I have been feeling for a while now that she is just as anxious to be born as we are for her to be born. THT would really like for her to be born on his birthday (the 4th) and we joke that I’ll do my best to push her out on that day but I think it would be really special for him if she was born on his birthday. I guess we’ll see. I pretty much hold to the mantra "She’s going to come when she’s going to come."
So today I have noticed the return of the vague nausea, not unlike what I dealt with for 5-6 weeks during my first trimester. UGH. It doesn’t help that I am still trying to come out on top of this stomach flu. At least I haven’t thrown up today – I guess that is something to be thankful for.
Fall here is beautiful. We had unusually warm weather for the longest time and finally got our cold snap about the middle of October. It was pretty weird, for this side of the state! Since then we had a day where we had 2-3 snow flurries, and that was fun. None of it stuck, of course, but it was still fun to watch it come down. We have a set of snow tires that we need to put on our little Geo within the next week or two, as the weather turns nastier. But I’ve been enjoying the play of color and the crisp air that accompanies this time of year.
I am looking forward to Thanksgiving! I will have to be careful of what I eat, and I won’t get to eat all the pie I want (sugar-free, of course) but I think it will still be enjoyable. If everything goes as planned we will be able to have Speed Racer. It has been too long since we’ve seen that boy – it drives THT nuts to be so close and not be able to see him as often as we are supposed to. We’ve decided to write her a letter and send it certified (sending a copy to our lawyer as well so he has it on file) stating our intentions and when we want to have him. In the modified decree we are supposed to have him like 2x a month, every other weekend, and as of yet she has not responded to other attempts THT has made to get in touch with her. It seems like she wants to do everything the hard way…so we’ll do it the hard way.
Oh, my younger brother recently got engaged. They dated for something like 3 weeks before they decided they want to tie the knot but they knew each other through my sister and it seems to be a really positive thing for both of them. Last I heard they were looking at the end of April to get sealed…as long as they stay away from the 12th!! That would just be weird for both me and THT I think. I know tons of people have been married on the 12th of April…but nobody within my immediate or extended family! Anyway, they seem happy and I am glad for them.
And with that I’ll sign off for now 🙂
