Puppy Problems

My puppy is like my child. He’s my baby. Everywhere I go, he follows me. He snuggles with me on the couch and in bed. He is just my cutie little 8 month old pup.

About a week and a half ago, he started having diarreah (how the heck do you spell that?) and no matter what we did, it would not go away. So today we went to the vet.

He doesn’t love the vet and cowers in a corner when he comes in the room. He learned quick as a puppy that this is the man that sticks me with sharp stuff. But he did his exam and didn’t find anything really wrong with him.

So he gave him this shot that dries him all up. He can’t have food or water for 24 to 36 hours. I feel soooooooo bad about that. But if I trust anyone to tell me not to give him food or water, its my vet. So we got home and I let him have his last drink of water before I emptied out his bowls.

Now he’s passed out on the couch. On Thursday morning, I can give him water and a cup of food. Plus, he has to have a special kind of food…special gastroenteric food or something like that. I’ve got a puppy that basically needs gastroenterology! Poor guy!!

Anyway, I feel terrible. He’s all curled up in a little ball now probably from the medicine he was injected with. He’s going to wake up all cotton-mouthed and not be allowed any water! My poor puppy! I love him to death!!!

Try gatorade. Everytime one of my dogs were sick the vet said to give that to them.

Awww, this happened to my pup when she was that age too. She’s nine months now, but when it happened..eww. We were told the same thing, no water or food and special food. It turned out to be her regular dog food (Iams puppy). We put her back on Beneful and she was good. Now, we just need to keep her away from human food and all that…good luck! He’ll be fine…
