Low Energy

My energy and vibrations have been very low this last little while. I have not felt that I could be bothered doing anything much, not even posting to my blog. Hence the silence, broken only by pulses, or answers to featured questions. (Note for those getting this via other feeds, a pulse and a featured question are exclusively xanga.com so, if you’re not following on xanga, you would have just had silence).

I have not been writing, either. Just sleeping, eating, reading and the occasional meditation session thrown in. I don’t know that it has improved a whole lot, either, but at least I felt motivated to post a blog today.

Yesterday, I was stopped in the street by a reporter from the local rag who asked me if I would give her a comment, and let her take my picture to publish in next weeks paper. She was asking people what their dream Valentine’s day date would be. "If you could have anything–sky’s the limit, what would be your very best dream for Valentine’s day?" I told her we don’t celebrate Valentine’s but she said. "That’s okay, just–dream big, what would you want?"

So I decided to enter into the spirit of the game and told her I thought that breakfast on the beach in Fiji would be nice. She loved it. Then she took a photo, telling me to give a big smile–NOT happening. Maybe if she’d asked me on Tuesday next week, she might get a BIG smile. hehe. But for this photo she had to settle for a tight little–barely showing any teeth at all–kind of smirk. I am just not that into showing off that broken tooth to the entire district, y’know?

Only a few more days before I go to the dentist and finally get my broken front tooth fixed. Of course, attendant on that, is also getting a root canal done in one of my back teeth, which I am not looking forward to at all, but I am trying to focus on the positives here.

I had a bit of a rant today, which escalated into an argument with my partner about the whole ebook piracy issue. That has left me feeling both cleansed and wrung out. I don’t think I will ever reach a place of true resolution on piracy. It sucks and there’s not a lot that can be done about it. That’s all true, but it also still hurts and is as frustrating as hell. The only thing I would ask and I know this won’t get me anywhere, is that those who illegally download my books for free don’t even think of yourselves as my fans. You’re not fans, you’re stinky, sucky leeches and I can do without you. *gets out the salt and a zippo* So stay away from me, mkay?

As well as being tired and grumpy, I have also been busy for a lot of January, and early Feb with getting final edits and proofs done on not one, but two stories that are due to release on the same day in February.

tlatc.jpgI have a short story in the "To Love and To Cherish" Anthology which is releasing this month. To Love and To Cherish is a joint effort by several authors of lesbian fiction to raise funds for Marriage Equality USA and it is releasing, first in three ebook installments and then on Feb 14th (Valentine’s Day) in paperback. Proceeds from sales will go to help Marriage Equality USA in the fight for equal rights for same sex couples under Marriage law. My story is titled: "This Magic" and explores the relationship of my characters through the POV of one of them who is now very old. It has a slight paranormal slant to it, and is very romantic, if I say so myself. It will release in the third ebook edition titled: Lives and Wives  and will also be a part of the paperback release on Feb 14.

You can download a free preview of this book HERE

My other release for February is Arcana: Queen of Pentacles coming February 13th from Torquere Press.

Trey Donovan has a good job, close friends and loves living in his hometown of Reno. The only thing lacking from his life is a special someone to share it with.  That’s more of a problem to his best friend, and boss, Dimitri, than it is for Trey. Demitri urges Trey to learn to trust despite some bad experiences in the past, but when Demitri’s old college pal Gabe Walsh shows up, and shows an interest in Trey, Demitri is quick to step between them, almost ruining Trey’s chances at happiness.

I will post excerpts from both of these releases closer to release day! Stay tuned!

Okay, that’s about it for me today. 🙂

RYN: Good explanation of the difference. But remember, todayÂ’s kids do not WANT privacy.

A decent endodontist can finish a root canal in about 20 minutes with little or no pain (discomfort, yes). Hope yours goes well. As far as piracy, the word has no meaning for today’s Twitter generation. All content—music, movies, books—is expected to be free; it’s an entitlement. I see Facebook notes from “friends” who should know better bragging about watching a pirated movie DVD. The Internet paradigm shift has shifted ancillary paradigms. Good luck with your writing: you may have the “old paranormal lesbian” market sewn up!

RYN: “You’re very welcome to share my note about living with disability with your friend. I hope it helps.” Thank you. I agree with you, totally, about downloading intellectual property without payment. It’s STEALING.
