I Used to Know This

"Pheebs, maybe you know this.  What’s the boiling point of brain?"

That’s pretty much how I feel right now.

In case you hadn’t gathered, I made it across the breadbasket of the United States which, by the way, is more like a DIRT basket.

Jessica’s Travel Tip Number One:  Don’t drive through New Mexico unless absolutely necessary.  Seriously.  I’m still wondering if it was necessary for me to do it.

Anyway.  I got here on Friday.  Since then I have been to Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive, I have unloaded a Uhaul truck full of crap I’m not sure I really need, and I have been rather distressed about finding a parking garage/bank/job.

This is what I wanted, though, right?  Scary and big and so much more huge than I thought I could handle?  And I know I’ll make it through this too.  I made an appointment with Randstad and I go see them on Thursday at 3.  I just want to make some money so I don’t blow my entire savings just to pay my rent before I get evicted because I still don’t have a job.

I think my main concern is finding a teaching position.  That’s what’s going to keep me paying my bills.  I can work all the temp jobs I want, but it doesn’t count until I make use of the $40,000 education I’ll be paying for for the next 10 years.

But, focus on the present and all, right?  The present is the Fourth of July and fireworks and a day at the beach tomorrow.  The present after that is a visit to Hollywood.  And then comes the visit to Randstad to see if they can put me in a job that will pay my bills.

Most present, though, is that I am here and I am safe, and I actually really do love this city.  And that’s what matters.
