Without Jimmy Fallon OR Tina Fey [picture]
They both moved on to greener pastures…the silver screen…crappy movies…well, Taxi wasn’t too bad – kinda funny – especially the part where Jimmy sings while he’s driving. Okay, enough of that.
This week was a pretty good week. No. It was fabulous. We’ll go by day because I want to torture you all just like that.
Monday:
Nothing too special to mention here. Well, except that I ran around like a freak trying to find a place that would properly pack my baby lovingly in bubble wrap and peanuted boxes so the FedEx man could tenderly carry her (by hand) to Milpitas, California. Let me live my fantasy that my baby was just fine after she left my house. I had to be back at the house by noon because my time frame was 12-5. The FedEx guy (who wasn’t ugly, by the way) showed up around 4 with everything he was supposed to have…all the proper labels and tracking numbers and everything. Ah, responsibility.
Tuesday:
Went to the church to take a shower as I had no hot water. Almost got walked in on (had to use the men’s shower because it was the only one with a shower curtain). Had a meeting for the conference I was planning. Got my final orders, details, numbers, and sane moments. Made the appointments I needed to make. Went to class. Had my last night of a clean house and calm mind.
Wednesday:
Spent the morning working on brochures and nametags. Spent the afternoon doing what I do best – shopping. Part of my job was to buy gifts for the presenters for the conference. What did I get? I got stuff to do what I do second best:
Don’t worry. I took the pricetags off everything after I saw this picture and realized the prices were showing. That book was written by one of my professors: Dr. Schimmels. He died a few years back. One of the best teachers that ever lived. I mean, we’re talking Socrates, Plato, Cliff Schimmels. Anyway, went to class, went to best friend’s to take a shower as I still had no hot water and I wasn’t about to ask someone if I could use their shower at 4 a.m. Came home, and spent the night cleaning the disaster that was my house, and putting everything together – the nametags, the numbered charts I needed, the gift baskets, and so on and so forth. I had to be back at the school at 7:30 on Thursday morning and I didn’t finish my stuff until 1:30, I believe. I knew sleep would be precious since it was going to be so short.
Thursday:
Also known as D-Day. This was it. This was make me or break me day. All my planning and coordinating had better have paid off or I and my superiors would look incredibly stupid. We get there and the sound system has been stolen. Dr. Nerren is so laid back that he says, "Eh..we’ll just grab a cone out of the parking lot – they’ll get a kick out of that!" We continue to set up and the conference goes just fine, with a soundboard brought in at the last minute. Dr. Nerren introduced me to all the administrators and explained that I coordinated the conference. I received many a compliment. I needed many a nap.
I came home to find two very pleasant surprises. Well, half-surprises. I had ordered some stuff from The Body Shop and the box was sitting at my door. However, even better, a FedEx tag was hanging on my door window. Oh yes, my friends. My baby was back…not more than three days from the time I sent her away! I had originally planned on coming home and hitting the hay for a few hours, but I couldn’t since it was 5 and I could go pick my baby up at 6:30. Came back and tried to stay awake, but I couldn’t handle it. I fell asleep and woke up after midnight. Went back to bed shortly thereafter.
Friday:
Worked on the invoices and mailed them. Spent the rest of the day getting my baby back to normal. Also got hot water back after not having any all week. Landlord came and fixed the wiring job he’d accidentally messed up at an earlier date.
Saturday:
Spent the day shopping for a conference I have going on next week. I coordinate and carry out the childcare portion of the conference. So, my mother and I spent the day picking out the curriculum and materials we would need for the kids. We also planned out what snacks we would serve. We’ll have them Thursday evening, Friday morning and evening, Saturday morning and evening, and Sunday morning. We decided to actually have a sort of lesson plan for them this year instead of just having coloring books and movies for them to fry their brains on. There are some really cute projects that we’ll be working on. I’m pretty stoked about it.
And that pretty much brings us up to par. Oh. I also got my yoga textbook for the Barnes and Noble University course I signed up for. You know you’re a real nerd when you’re taking classes for a degree and it’s not enough – you have to sign up for life improvement courses online too.
Life ain’t too shabby.
P.S.
Savings for that Uhaul truck are piling up! (and I still haven’t written the big story about the definite move to LA!)
P.S.S.
I also haven’t put my recipe up for this month yet! On the way, I promise.
