An Update on My Poor, Poor Baby [no picture]

Yeah.  I put that bracket just to be funny.  I know it didn’t work.

Anyway, so what’s up with my laptop?  I called Compaq again today – third day in a row – to talk to someone about sending my baby out to California to be fixed.  I talked to the nice lady.  Her name was Joan.  She probably picked her own last name.  (If you got that, I’m so happy.  If you didn’t, you are not a true Friend.  Oh, man!  I’m on a roll!)  Joan told me that she got Scotty’s notes.  See, Scotty left some notes on my account because I had spent the entire day before on the phone with Melissa.  Melissa helped me troubleshoot.  And we shot every last little trouble we possibly could.  The little buggers kept right on ticking like a Rolex.

Anyway, so I told Scotty that we had done all the stuff we could and I unplugged the RAM and I pressed F8 repeatedly until the little menu came up and I pressed F10 repeatedly until the little menu came up and I took everything off my harddrive and I recovered and restored all my drivers and I reformatted and then re-recovered and restored all my drivers and my baby still looks like this.  So, Scotty said that, yeah, we’d probably need to send it to California to get some service done on it but that I’d have to check back or that he could call me because their service order system was down.  I told him Melissa was supposed to call me back and didn’t get to, so I could just call back later.  So, he said he’d put notes on my account so they’d know not to make me do the whole song and dance again.

I called today and told the girl, "Scotty said that he left a note on my account and to tell you."

"Ah, yes.  Here it is.  Okay!  Well, let’s get on a service order for you, shall we?"

So, we went through the business of getting the information on what the deal will be with FedEx and shipping my baby out there.  I have to send it without the a/c adapter and without the battery.  And I have to pack, box, and label it, but Compaq pays for the rest of the shipping.  That’s fair.  I can handle that.  The best part about it all is that they’re going to come and pick it up on Monday afternoon (October 31) and she said I’d have it back on or before November 4 (Friday).  I squeeled with delight.  Seriously, like a little girl.  She said "Oh, good surprise, was it?"  And I said, "That’s way faster than I expected!"

So, I’ll only be without my little black book for a few days.  I can handle that.  No, really.

Your picture is cute!! Sounds like Compaq gives really good customer service. Who knew?

Of course you can. You can handle a few days without the internet. I could, too. *twitches*

Here’s to a quick turn around.

October 30, 2005

I’d be lost, lost, lost without my computer. I have my PC, plus a laptop as backup! I’m an addict, what can I say?

RYN: I will take all the hugs I can get. 🙂

RYN: I don’t think I’ve ever made out with you, but your user icon is really pretty… so… whose to say tonight won’t be the night? (I feel so weird posting this on a baby picture entry…)

RYN: Haha, well the weirdness would have only been worse if I actually read about and looked at a picture of your hypothetical child. 🙂 As it happens I have seen the picture of it in your other entry. That is a saaad story.
