The cold-toe two-step

I worked today and it was pretty boring. I was the only one working today, and while some people did stop by to do some hiking, there weren’t many. I had time to start to re-read my most favoritest book of all time (All Quiet on the Western Front), listen to my iPod, stare at goldfish and teach myself how to tend to a fire (the important thing is to make sure stuff stays on fire).

I realize one of the biggest wastes of energy is to have a crush on someone that is not only out of your league, but is involved in a mega-long-term relationship. Whatever. I wish I could just talk myself out of such nonsense. I guess I’ll just stick with my celebrity crushes on Brandon Flowers (The Killers lead singer), Bret McKenzie (Flight of the Conchords) and Bill Hader (SNL, etc.)(note: I apparently need to date someone “irl” whose name starts with B. And is also a white dude with dark hair.) and have that be that.

I had a lot of trouble waking up this morning, and showering seemed like a debilitating inconvenience. On the plus side, I learned that I can get to work in about 12 minutes.

As for my last entry: the long ago ex wanted to to write him about things I liked and regretted about our relationship. I told him I would just to keep him quiet, but I never got around to it. I think it’s a waste of time. I don’t know what he wants to hear from me, though I do know that I’m confident that things ended between us at the right time. I guess that’s one place where we differ.

Anyway, I’m boring myself. I think I’ll read until I fall asleep. I just know I’ll wake up around 3am and stay awake until 630 or so. It is nice to be predictable in some way.

P.S. HAPPY ALMOST-BIRTHDAY AUTUMN!!!

Reading at work sounds ideal… and the bit about keeping stuff burning cracked me up. Sorry to hear about the mega-long-term relationship crush. You can’t help who you’re attracted to… and that can really, really suck sometimes.
