A kindof question
So, let’s say you dated someone awhile ago. Like, 9 years ago. Near the beginning of your high school career. Long relationship, considering how old you are, etc
Bad breakup. Go two years without speaking to one another and then they call out of the blue. The conversation is a little forced and your life plans are already clearly different.
Two more years pass, and through the magic of Myspace you become friends again. You talk off and on for a couple of years, but nothing too serious despite the fact that they hint at missing you.
Nine or so years after you and this person break up, though you haven’t seen them in all that time, they insist that they miss you and worry constantly about what might have been. They want to meet up and re-start whatever kind of relationship you had, and they are convinced that you’re “the one that got away”.
Creepy or romantic? I have no idea how this guy thinks he’s still in love with me/we could start back where we left off after all of these years. I don’t know if he or I are different people than we were in the 9th grade, but my intuition is telling me that this is the case. How can you be sure how you feel about someone if you haven’t seen them in almost a decade?
You should be as unsure as each other about whether any relationship still has any viability. I wouldn’t say it was creepy but I would say it was a little unhealthy that he can’t seem to move on. You’ve got to let go. People change so much during the late teens/early twenties so it’s hard to believe that either one of you has stayed exactly the same…he may still be in love with you how you werethen….I’m sure you’re still immensely loveable but you might not be the same person and he might not be. There were also probably good reasons why you split which might still remain. There’s no harm meeting up to test the water from your side of the fence but as long as he’s aware that it’s as friends and not necessarily as a precursor to hooking up again.

RYN. Ahh the demon drink. Can exaggerate thoughts, feelings and emotions tenfold. It makes the unthinkable, thinkable and the bad ideas seem good! Thanks for your comments. I’ll try and keep it up. It always amazes me if someone can identify themselves with even the smallest shred of my writings…makes the effort worthwhile! Take care xxx

I don’t think it’s creepy. I think it’s.. flattering. Definitely worth possibly checking into, if only for pure curiosity’s sake. He obviously still has quite the torch for you. That’s exciting!
