A picture heavy New Year entry
This entry has several large-ish pictures. Sorry if it takes a long time or doesn’t work. Or whatever.I also hate that some of the pictures have those stupid links on them, but I don’t feel like screwing with it right now.
Well my friends, it looks like we’ve made it through another year. Let the collective high-fives ensue. 2008 involved a lot of adventure and a fair amount of frustration, and I’m not going to miss the year as a whole. We live, time marches on. So it goes.
I had a nice Christmas break. My mom, sister and I, with NephewC in tow, made the many-hour-drive to northern Georgia (it was supposed to take 9 or 10 hours but ended up taking 12 I think). We only stayed for a few days but still managed to do many interesting things. I saw some family that I hadn’t seen for awhile, saw some animals at an aquarium, played DDR and Rock Band, slept on a sweet air mattress (seriously, it was comfortable) and played with a nice puppy. I also met nephewS, who is young but has already mastered the fine art of whimpering. We went there on the 24th and came back on the 29th, so the trip was fairly short and involved a lot of driving. I’m still happy I got to go though!
I was really excited to use the iTunes gift cards I got for Xmas, and ended up getting three full albums and one old EP from Conor Oberst, The Killers, Bright Eyes, and Vampire Weekend (though I feel like a little bit of a sellout for buying Vampire Weekend because they remind me so much of another band that originated from my college and is selling CDs: Mutual Kumquat).
I’ve been working the past couple of days but have today off. Last night I went to my friend’s parents’ house with a couple of other friends that I’ve had since high school. We used to dress pretty crazy at our New Years get togethers, so I decided to break out the mask I made:
Yes, it’s made out of construction paper.
Uhhmm…. yeah. I think I’ll clean my room today and drink a lot of chai.
Oh, good news. I am about to post some pictures from the drive Renee and I made from California to Indiana last August. It’s mostly just scenery, but that’s all we really got to stare at during those three days of driving. You can play the “Drive 2000+ miles game” by sitting in one spot and staring at these pictures for 12 hours a day for 3 days. Uhh… enjoy!

The other states were really just too boring to take pictures of, while Nevada and Wyoming were both really beautiful. I don’t like Nevada much anymore though because we stopped at this really creepy rest stop in the middle of the night–creepy because it was pitch black and truckers were peeking around the corners of their trucks to watch us. Heck, I don’t even know anyone who lives/has lived in Nevada.
Anyway, that’s enough of that. I have a lot of webcomics I need to catch up on.
ryn: yeah for some reason facebook wouldn’t let me use it and i had to start over. =P
