Job shadowing
Things have been alright. I had another interview the other day–for an entry level community organizer position at a non-profit in Fort Wayne. This basically means a lot of talking to people face-to-face about certain energy issues and trying to get them to sign petitions, etc., to pressure state leaders since they aren’t issues regular citizens get to vote on. On Monday I am going to go in and shadow one of their senior staff members for a day to see if the job would be a good fit for me. I think it sounds interesting, so we’ll see how that goes.
Noah came by yesterday to bring me a free mattress from a woman in the town where he lives, and to pick up an old couch that the renters left at the other house. He also took me to a Thai restaurant and we wandered around a used book store. He had to leave kindof early, and I’m going to his place tonight to hang out with him until he has to go to work… at 4pm tomorrow. I am pretty besmittened (not a word, I know) so it should be fun. He’s cheesy in a way that’s kindof nice because it allows me to be cheesy in ways that I would normally suppress.
I have been focusing on politics and the election A LOT lately. It seems like there is a lot to stress about, and some articles really frighten me: Rage rising on the McCain campaign trail, for instance.
I don’t really have much to say, just thought I would give a quick update. I have been moving stuff into the new apartment, and I’m pretty excited about that. It will be nice to unpack everything and settle in somewhere again. Time for a shower! I hate them sometimes because of their inconvenience. I guess trying to hide body odor is a little more inconvenient though.
The rage at some of the McCain rally’s are very scary. There were some where the crowd was yelling, “Kill him!” (meaning Obama) and McCain has had to spend time during his speech to say that Obama isn’t a bad guy. Very, very sad. Take care

RYN: I just read the front of your diary and I’m fascinated by your ability to just up and move. My fiance and I are going to “up and move” next year after I graduate with my Bachelors (hopefully!) to Austin, Texas…and we’ve NEVER been there. For some reason, it just seems like “home”. How was the move and do you have any advice for people like me who are planning an gutsy move like youalready have made? Take care

Ah okay, I knew i had missed something when i read about job shadowing in the next entry. Note to self: in future read friends’ entries in chronological order when possible! And besmittened so should be a word, because it rocks.
