Writing at work! Oooo!

So.. this is my first entry written during Americorps time this year! Weeee! I feel so scandalous, but it’s what they get when they have us doing data entry for a few days. I have been so bored! I enter a few things, then take a break and browse the internet. This is the only way I have managed to stay sane this week.

I hate how stressed I’ve been lately. This situation has turned me into a horribly negative person at times, and I alternate between letting the negativity get to me, and thinking it’s funny. Sometimes I laugh at myself when I realize I’m being ultra-cranky, but that’s not how it was yesterday. I felt like I had the weight of the world on my shoulders (though my situation isn’t bad, I know, but ya know? It’s still hard to pull yourself out of a funk), and ate soup in my car for dinner. I was near a park, and 2 teenagers came near my car and decided to make out. This ticked me off, so I pretended to take a picture of them on my phone and they finally moved behind a tree. Take that!

Then I went to park in some neighborhood so I could sit and read, and the dude where I park decides at that second to mow his lawn. Lame! I moved my car somewhere else and walked around looking for cats to pet, but they were all totally rejecting me. By this time I felt super crummy and hung my head low, until one cat decided to be really nice and let me pet it. Then it stalked me… like, waited near my car for 20 minutes. The weird thing about it was that it waited near the drivers side, in the street. It was EVEN WEIRDER because I was walking around the neighborhood to try to get the thing to go away. I kept peeking around the corner and it was still there! It seemed like it had been abandoned, and I would have taken it if I had my own place (and put up "Found" signs, of course).

Did I mention that those 2 interviews I had went well? The one for Fort Wayne went better than South Bend, only because FW was actually structured more like an interview. For the South Bend one we told jokes and laughed, but I didn’t really get to articulate my skills. Renee: They actually are looking for someone for the VISTA position, and nearly crapped their pants when I mentioned it. So I have been pursuing that and they seem really interested… just had to get permission from the supervisor lady in Indy.

It’s my friend Renae’s birthday today, and she wants me to skip work tomorrow so we can do something. Problem is, tons of folks have been skipping work lately and I feel bad about it. Well, for example, 2 girls on my team have missed 3 days this week. Fine, whatever, but that means I’ve been having to pick up their slack and complete their assignments. I don’t want to give that burden to someone else if I skip.

Been communicating with different programs in Rochester a lot lately. I hope at least one of the programs really, really, really wants me to work for them!

Did I mention my little sister had a baby? Little ol’ Cooper. I probably haven’t talked much about it because a lot of people I know in real life and/or am related to read this, so it seems kindof redundant. Anyway, I’m happy that everything turned out well regarding that. I will be going home in a little over 2 weeks! Lots to do before then.

Anyway, I should probably get back to work now. Hope your day is rockin’.

I love that you pretended to take a picture of the horny teenagers, and am so pleased to hear your interviews are going well! And I admire your work ethic and consideration of your coworkers even though they don’t share that consideration for you. But I hate that you have been so super ultra mega stressed lately 🙁 Congrats to your sister, and I hope that you have a lot more wonderful things heading your way!

That sounds promising! Have you heard from them yet? I haven’t, so I was planning on calling them on Monday to see if they’ve made any decisions yet. That would be awesome that you’d recieve the Vista position! The women at the Fort Wayne position are way nice and passionate people. I think working for them would be awesome. Oh, and I can get an atlas. I’ve been thinking about that too.
