A stinky hotel

I’m at a hotel right now with Paul. It’s just past 8am, and I’m used to waking up at this time. I’m just killing time until he wakes up! Sorry if this entry sounds weird, I just woke up!

I drove here yesterday (a little over 2 hours) after work. It’s a pretty nice hotel–palm trees, jacuzzi, huge pool. A big problem though is that the place smells like manure! Well, the whole damn town does actually! That’s how you know you aren’t in a natural environment! This hotel is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, with vast expanses of flat, dry land all around. Google is telling me that there’s apparently a Kmart around here but I haven’t seen it. There are a couple of gas stations and a few restaurants but nothing else. It’s actually a pretty nice hotel, but Paul and I always find stuff to complain about!

The hotel here has a pretty famous restaurant though, I guess. People supposedly fly in ON PLANES to eat at this damn place. Paul and I went there last night and I ordered the most expensive stake I’ve ever ordered ($27–it was actually one of the cheapest on the menu) since they are apparently famous for their stake. It was good, but that plus the spinach salad, roll, asparagus and home fries was way too much for me to eat. I only ate about half the stake. Our room doesn’t have a fridge though, and I sure as hell wasn’t going to throw it away! Right now it’s in a plastic container in the sink covered with ice (at least the ice machine is nearby!). Man, this hotel does try to suck ASMUCHMONEYFROMYOUASTHEYCAN. It’s so annoying!

I’m going to spend today here with Paul too, and part of tomorrow. Last night we played this zombie board game which was actually pretty fun, I was just tired so it made me a little cranky. It’s really good to be hanging out with him though, since we know each other so well, etc. I’m not sure what we’re doing today but I’ll try not to be tired and cranky!

Oh, so the Rochester Americorps program couldn’t legally send my acceptance letter because the Americorps website wasn’t letting them view my references. They make folders for each member and everything has to be included, and if they were audited (?) and saw that my folder was incomplete they would get in trouble. Anyway, the guy who interviewed me was kindof disturbed by the website because they were apparently CRAZY about me and really wanted me to come work there (I do have pretty stellar qualifications for a program like that, I will admit). Well, it turns out the Americorps website was saying I had never created an application! Luckily he had a hard copy, and I let him talk to one of my references on the phone. Blah blah, basically they are sending the official acceptance letter and informational packet now. Whew.

Anyway, bah. I could get into work stuff but have decided that can wait until after my mini-vacation is over. Hope everyone is doing well!

Fly in on planes as opposed to flying in on dragons? Sorry, I’m in a weird mood too! I’m glad you’re having a great time with Paul. Weeeeeee on Americorps! Let’s hope they get the website thing figured out…

hey, I’ve played that zombie game…it has playing cards & plastic zombies. My husband has probably 5 or 6 add-ons for it. It’s more fun w/ at least 4 players. anyways, hope the americorps thing works out for you. 🙂
