Dozing

I’m pretty tired, so this entry might be pretty short/poorly written.

Yesterday I had my mid-term evaluation for Americorps/OCF. So I’m apparently pretty good at following direction, being supportive of my peers, having self-reflection, being professional (especially on the phone), and being helpful to the staff. My greatest strength is my ability to think critically. I need to work on my leadership skills though, and should use my critical thinking/objective reasoning skills pro-actively to help mediate conflicts within the group. Fair enough!

Last night was movie night at Our City Forest. We watched "Crude Awakening" (about the oil crisis); only 6 people attended and we were all Americorps members. Oh well, I got extra service hours for going though.  I guess the movie was interesting, but it’s the kind of stuff I hear all the time.

First thing today I had to drive the big Mitsubishi flatbed around. Stressful! I’m always worried I’ll hit something while driving that truck (FYI: It is a manual transmission.. I wouldn’t be able to drive it otherwise). We also worked on a birthday card for Christian, Our City Forest’s arborist. Also.. hmm.. we also found a dead crow outside of our building and called Animal Control. They said they wouldn’t be able to pick it up until Monday though, and that seems kindof pointless. What a shitty job, picking up dead animals and all. Anyway.

Renae and I were driving to a person’s house that we are planting for tomorrow, and a truck that was driving in front of us dropped some cargo. It was a large piece of metal! Renae had to hit the brakes, and I jumped out into the street to pick it up. The truck had sped away so we got a brand new piece of metal for free. It was about 7 feet long or so, and I don’t know what the heck we’re going to do with it. I guess that’s what being thrifty is all about?

Oh, Logan and Chad (from North Manchester) called me tonight. I talked to Logan for a long time, and he kept asking me questions about when I’m going to come back, where I’m going to live and what I’m going to do. He asks too many questions.  I was surprised to hear from them though and it was nice.

Sorry this entry is so lame. I am really tired and am pretty much dozing as I’m typing this. I’ll write a better entry tomorrow, hope you all are doing well.

Woo hoo on your evaluation!!! I have a feeling Crude Awakening wasn’t much different than other films about it, although sad that only Americorps members attended. I’m a little perplexed about the random dead cow though. Hopefully you can find something to do with the abandoned piece of metal but good gravy, I’m glad you guys didn’t hit it and get hurt!!!! And this entry wasn’t lame silly. *hugs*Hope you get some quality sleep!
