STILL ALIVE WOO

LOOK, I’m still alive!

The bummed feeling.. meh, it comes and goes. I have been pretty busy the last week or so though, and also just haven’t felt creative enough or inspired enough to write.

Hmm.. let’s see if I can catch up. Last time I wrote I was upset because Paul told me he wanted to take a break from phone conversations, making e-mail our primary form of communication. This probably isn’t a big deal but e-mail doesn’t feel nearly as personal to me, which is difficult in a long distance relationship. He decided this would be best because he has been so stressed out with his job(s) (he actually quit one of them last week) and taking his GRE class + tutoring. It got to the point where he was mean to me on a few occasions, but he did try really hard to not take it out on my. Ehh, whatever. I’m trying to look past the mean things he said, and try to realize that he’s doing this because he cares about our relationship (and cares about his own sanity). Whenever we talked it apparently interrupted his work, studying, or relaxation. Meh, whatever. I’ve been really busy so I haven’t had much time to think about it.

We are getting more and more responsibility at work… it gets a little stressful sometimes, but I’m trying to look at the larger picture (how I’m doing something meaningful, and blah blah blah). Work is mostly really fun though, and I’m thankful for that. I’ve also been doing quite a bit of socializing outside of work the past 2 weeks… Last weekend and the weekend before we had get-togethers at the house here, basically involving bad movies and booze. Halloween night I went to a party with one of my guy friends, then later picked up a different guy friend and we went to this girl’s house that we work with. Does that make sense? Anyway, we hung out at her place for awhile and then went downtown. It was PACKED! I mean, people were crammed like sardines into the clubs. Luckily some vodka make that, as well as the ridiculously loud music, tolerable. I stayed up until 230am that night, which is a bad idea when you’re working the next morning.

I didn’t really do anything yesterday, though Ian (a guy I work with) invited me to an open mic night he was performing at at some coffee place. I had to turn him down though, because my team had to be to work at 645am this morning! I got up around 5am and pretty much felt like crap. We had to go so early because we had a tree delivery coming at 8am (they usually come at 10) and we had to get some things ready for that. The tree delivery is for an event tomorrow, and the order this week was huge… so lots of tree pruning and moving.

The entire afternoon was pretty much completely office work. Beh.. sometimes I think I’d like to be assigned to neighborhood or park plantings (instead of the "Trees for All" program, where people are pretty much required by the city to plant street trees), but I love the people on my team so it all evens out.

Oh! Another interesting story… the 31st was supposed to technically be my last day over at the other house (the house I originally moved into), so I was supposed to have everything out. The problem there is this: when I originally moved up, Paul followed me in a truck so he could haul my bookshelf and desk. Yeah, I don’t have a truck, and apparently noone I know has one they can access quickly. Basically receiving my deposit was dependent upon me completing the seemingly impossible task of moving furniture out. Eh?

The landlord guy wasn’t there when I showed up, so I began dragging the desk out of the house by myself. When he showed up I had the thing halfway out the front door, and it was completely obvious that it would never fit in my car. When he seemed worried about this, I pretty much took the opportunity to tell him about how I didn’t have any help, and how the thing was heavy–anything to evoke some kind of sympathy. Long story short: I got my deposit back and he told me he’d take care of the furniture. Yay!

I have to be into work at 750am tomorrow, and am hoping either Meghan, Karoline or Ian are free to hang out tonight. We’ll see!
