Pruning and Free Phones

Surprise, it’s me! Remember? Me?

Today I went to work again. Yep, I’ve managed to go the entire time so far. I know, you’re impressed!

Last night Meghan and I were watching "I Love New York", laughing at how raunchy and terrible it was until Meghan’s young cousin came in. Damn! Then we (of course) had to change it to Meerkat Manor. I like that show, but it just isn’t the same. I did manage to do laundry last night, talked to the boyfriend and didn’t sleep well last night. Eh, it happens.

Today I thought I woke up late, and my first few seconds of consciousness were focused on how much the day would suck if I didn’t have time to shower. Luckily I did have time though, so I got ready without much of a problem… Meghan, Karoline and I even managed to arrive to work early. We had a basic meeting to discuss the weekends events, then the representatives from "Loopt" came to give us our free phones.

The phones are pretty nice, though I’m trying to get over the stalker-iness (not a word, I know) of the GPS tracking. There’s a map with green dots that basically tell you where your contacts are, as well as how far away they are from you. I guess it might come in pretty handy once I get used to it. So yeah, new free phones for the next 10 months. We get unlimited text messaging, so if you want a texting buddy let me know (I’m pretty clever sometimes!!).

During the afternoon we went to the Tree Bank and practiced pruning on some of the younger trees. I really like pruning… it’s more technical than I ever really thought (probably because I hadn’t thought much about pruning before), but I like it because you really have to think through it and look at the bigger picture (aka what the tree will be like once it is fully grown, and what it will need to have the best structure and longest life possible).

I realize that I really operate best when I’m out in the field. I’m perfectly confident and capable when we’re actually at the plantings, and I don’t really think twice about speaking up and telling people what to do (if necessary). In the classroom/office environment I’m much more likely to sit back and listen to everyone else talk, and I’ll only say something if I think it’s really necessary. Usually it’s not really necessary to talk so I won’t, and people think I’m always super quiet. I guess I just don’t feel like talking all of the time… some people need to be listeners, after all.

I talked to Paul a little and he’s pretty much dedicated to GRE studying for the rest of the night. It sucks that I won’t really talk to him, but I know he’ll feel much better once he gets a little done.

Tomorrow at work we are breaking up into smaller teams… I really, really hope I’m put with cool people. Most of the people really are awesome actually, and there are probably only 2 or 3 I don’t want to be put with. I guess I’ll update on how that goes tomorrow.

Oh! I want to pass a new bit of Debbie-OD-Legislation: Everyone on my favs list needs to update 3-5 times an hour so I’ll constantly have things to read. This is good, yes? Thanks, I knew you would understand.

Stalkerishness, stalkericity, stalkerosity? That’s cool that you learn about pruning, I think it’s safe to say that the majority of the population doesn’t think much about it. Debbie OD Legislation! Hahaha well I could always set up another diary just for you and type whatever random thoughts occur to me a few times an hour.

Dont you know I do update that often, I just use invisible type on an invisible keyboard, so you cant see it. BUt if you concentrate really had you should be able to read it. Actually my brain is kinda like that from scrubs, I have a whole iner monologue…

Oh … I update … I’ve been thinking that I want my brain to be connected to the internet. I dont care if I get worms. I know my diary would be much more interesting that way. If you’re the green dot can I be the yellow one??
