Belize
I am attempting to post an entry from my iPod, so forgive any strange misspellings. As it is, I am writing this from my nice air conditioned apt/hotel on the island of Caye Caulker, in Belize.
It’s my second full day and I am working on getting used to the tropical climes. Today is much better than yesterday! People on this island live the slow life, so I have taken that to heart, not a lot of adventure to relay. I ride my rented bike around the sandy streets, eat mangoes and pastries from a local shop. I tried the blue waters once and proceeded to puncture the bottom of my foot on a conch shell. A little string of fat came out of the tiny wound!
My first night I treated myself to a lobster dinner. Everything is fresh, the daily catches are waiting for you to choose and they grill it right there for you. Amazing.
My choice to travel alone is normal for me, but its interesting…. I am shy with people I do not know, even though it would be so easy to make friends with locals and other travelers. Since I am just getting used to being here, I can’t over analyze- I need to just enjoy. Tonight I plan on a dinner $9US at a place that includes free mixed drinks. Then, maybe my brain will loosen up and I can engage in conversation with strangers.
Tomorrow I booked an all day snorkeling adventure. This will be with a group and includes three different stops, lunch, and a sunset return with ceviche and rum punch. If I am not too exhausted, there is a reggae bar called I & I I would like to visit. I am not a crazy party all night gal like I used to be (oh so briefly in Bellingham), but I do love to have fun. As it is, I plan to leave the island on Monday and head inland to the jungle and a town called San Ignacio.
I have some pictures, but I do not know if I can post them straight from my iPod. Anyone have some advice on that?
Ok friends, I need to figure out how to get my wifis working so I can actually post this entry.
