Oh my, time flies! [EDIT]

K starts kindergarten tomorrow. Wow. Her open house is today, it’s going on right now as a matter of fact. Critter said it wouldn’t be a mommy-daughter thing and I could come but she didn’t know when they’d be going. Only an hour left, but I do hope she and K get to go even if she forgets to call me.

B and K will not be at the same school this year like we thought they would, due to budgeting and population reasons the school system in the county has been re-structured. There are three elementary schools, all K-4, two middle schools (one is 5 & 6, one is 7 & 8), and one high school (9-12). My down stairs neighbors are a bit peeved, since their daughter is in eighth grade and will have to be driven clear across the county every day. She could ride the bus but the stop is six-tenths of a mile away and 132 feet further up than where the house is. Add to that the bear issue (which her parents are causing) and I wouldn’t want a thirteen-year-old walking to the bus stop either.

Speaking of her being thirteen, she was out in a bathing suit again yesterday, but this one was much more age appropriate. Still a two-piece, but the bottom was a full, modest cut and the top was a racer-back sports bra type. Turns out I didn’t mention the last time she was out: I was concerned that perhaps a child-porn version of "Girls Gone Wild" was being filmed in my back yard. Good Lord, I’m not a pervert but that was a bit much. Yes, I prefer a nude lifestyle, but that would have been a lot less distracting than the bright red dental floss contraption she was wearing. Seriously.

Anyway, since I’ll probably be on the emergency contact lists for all three schools this year, I should probably try and find the one D will be at. B is going to be at the one D was at last year, and K is at the one D & B were in when they lived with me.

When I saw K the other day she was so cute! She wanted to know why my phone was red now (I bought a new case) and why my hair was a different color (it’s not, but the grey stands out more and more the shorter I cut it). And of course I got my hug! Yay! I dropped off her school supplies too. The only thing I didn’t get her was the backpack, since I didn’t have her with me. I think those are almost as personal as clothes and it’s best to have the kids with you when you buy them. Oh, and she’s lost her first tooth! It was a bottom one, so she’s not an obvious snaggle-tooth but she’s still cute as a button.

A friend tweeted earlier that modern men were lacking in wooing skills due to the whole "women’s lib" thing. I saw it while watching Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy this morning, and the first thing that came to my mind was generally when I’m busy wooing, some jackass with two heads butts in and asks her if she wants to see his spaceship. Maybe I’m just wooing the wrong ladies.

[EDIT]
The time for K’s open house has come and gone and I never got a call or text message. I just hope they got to go so Critter doesn’t have to worry about finding K’s room for the first time on the first day of school.

Perhaps so. heh. I had another fella on FB tell me that it’s too much work – that it’s too demanding in this day and age to expect such things. That said, the tone of what he was saying sounded a lot like the women he (or friends) were trying to date were serious princesses. A little Wooing goes a long way for a normal gal. It means you’re thinking of her in more than just one way. ~smiles~
