If I Had A Time Machine
That was a popular hash tag on Twitter earlier in the week, not sure why. I couldn’t keep it to 140 characters though so I’ve been thinking about it. Two things I’d want to change, and a lot of stuff I’d like to see. Here are my two items, in historical order, not order of importance.
#1 – Convince Dr. von Braun that Earth Orbit Rendezvous is far superior to Lunar Orbit Rendezvous. I’d do a cheap time machine trick to convince him I knew more than he did and that’d be that. Skipping the mechanics of it all, if we’d gone with EOR instead of LOR we’d have the following three things: 1) a proper space station 2) a colony of some sort on the moon 3) at least one round-trip to Mars under our belts. Sorry, but the EOR article is complete rubbish and I refuse to link it, but it’s up on wikipedia of you’re interested.
#2 – I’d go to Tuesday, July 24, 2007 and fix what went wrong. Not entirely certain how I’d fix it without directly interacting with my past self (which is probably a bad idea) but if I were successful it would be a major change in my life. It would literally re-write every single day since then. Oh well, bygones.
That’s if my time machine was of the type that transported my present self physically into the past. If it was a Quantum Leap type machine where I actually inhabit the body of someone (even myself) in the past then all bets are off. It’d be back to high school for me, full speed ahead and damn the torpedoes! Knowing then, what I know now, in that body…lots of fun to be had. Not a lot of decisions to change at that point, except I might actually do homework the second time around. I mean, I graduated with a 3.5 (out of 4.0) without doing any homework or studying. Imagine the possibilities…
That’s all. Gonna go now.
And GetGlue.com is cool.
