I’m sure I had a reason for starting this…

…but I can’t seem to remember what it was.

It was my birthday yesterday. My actual friends on Facebook all sent me a happy birthday note, and one of the folks that is only using my for their FarmVille headcount did too. Even though birthdays and other HR milestones are printed on the manager’s briefing notes we go over every morning at the managers’ meeting my birthday wasn’t mentioned. Somehow the report got forgotten yesterday. Go figure.

So yeah, I worked on my birthday, but it was OK. I was sort of hoping something would materialize in the form of a small event with Critter and maybe Dobby and Mana at the IHOP or WaHo or something. Ember has to work during the week so I knew seeing her would be unlikely. My parents are in town (I think I mentioned that) and they took K and me to lunch the day before. We had Mexican, it was really good. My parents like K, they think she’s adorable. She was a little shy at first, but she got over it pretty quickly.

I have to say I really like the "new" LED Christmas lights. They used to have this horrid Sci-Fi ultra-white (almost blue) thing going on, but they ones they’ve got out this year have been frequency tuned to a warmer color that’s closer to the old incandescent clear (or if you want to get technical, colorless) bulbs. I’ll probably buy a new tree at the end of the season if they have any LED ones on sale, otherwise I’ll wait until next year and pay full price. The one I’m using this year is the oldest tree I have and a lot of the lights are out. I’m not sure if it would be worth the time to check every single one of them to see which one is causing the blackout. Of course my parents are talking about fixing their fifteen-footer, which means I’ll get the seven-footer they’re borrowing back, and it works just fine. Then I can donate the tree I’m using this year to someone who would otherwise not have one at all. I really don’t need three trees anymore since I’ve downsized on the housing front. I"m really hoping to be able to buy a home in the next few years so I can make plans and start buying decorations again and just go all Clark Griswold on my place and not have to worry about anything but falling off the roof.

Off to bed now.
