Diagnosis

So, I don’t have a Goa’uld or Trill in my gut. Not even a tapeworm. What I do have is Fatty Liver Disease. Great. I think this was what was happening before, back in the mid to late nineties, when the Red Cross sent me a letter saying thanks for donating but they didn’t want my blood. They said I was either an alcoholic or tremendously fat, and should take appropriate steps. They were nicer about it, of course. I think I was up in the high 300’s or even around 400 lbs back then. I’m right at 300 now. I think I got down to 250 or so at my most recent lowest weight back in 2007/2008.

Dr. K wants me to see a nutritionist, but we have to see if my insurance will pay for it or not. While we’re waiting to find out I’m going to go ahead and jump back onto my restricted calorie diet and see if I can’t show some progress before my next appointment with her on the tenth. The diet consists of Slim-Fast for breakfast and dinner and a Lean Cuisine or Weight Watchers frozen meal of my choice. I normally exercise with that too, which speeds the process of weight loss. Good thing I’m a member of a twenty-four hour gym isn’t it. I’ll probably start going at least two nights a week for now, then pop it up to three when I go back on my normal schedule. Nothing but treadmills and elliptical walkers for now, at least until I get the weight down to where I’m not risking my knees every time I bend them. Maybe I can get Critter to go with me, who knows.

I was considering putting in for two of our stores in Alaska, one in Wasilla and one in Fairbanks, but I think I’m going to try to get this back in line before I do any radical moves. Besides, the lack of outdoor activities in those two cities during the winter would probably mean even more weight gain, which would be a bad bad thing.

So your liver needs a diet! At least it’s reversible with some hard work 😉 You’ll get back on track soon.
