Ok, sorry this took so long

Okie dokie then, where was I?

Oh yeah, I remember: haven’t done anything interesting in the past ten or so days.

The End.

Just kidding! That’s gonna get me beat eventually…

Went up to my parents’ place last Wednesday, did a lot of laundry and some dishes too. I also picked up some mail at my PO box, like my new check card and some checks Ember needed me to deposit for her. I’m *really* glad I got the check card, my other one is in the wind. My idiot neighbors are still screwing with my mail.

So I stayed up way too late and ended up oversleeping: I wanted to be at the storage unit at 0800 and didn’t roll out of bed until 0900. I was supposed to be cleaning out my stuff, at least the stuff I wanted to keep, so my dad can close out his contract there. Most of that stuff hasn’t been touched in years, so I’m not really sure why they still have it all. I scored a bunch of tools and stuff though: at one time my dad was doing minor remodels on three houses at the same time, each in a different state, so he had a lot of duplicate tools. I got an electric finishing nail gun and an 84 piece bit set that had never been opened. How cool is that! Lots of nails and screws and other sundry items too, so it was well worth the gas to drive up there.

Sent a text to Nala right after I got up, and was not really optimistic considering the history of our attempts to meet, so I didn’t shave before I left. Naturally I got a text back at 1100 saying we were still on, she just wanted to know when and where. Ooops. I flipped through the GPS and found a Mellow Mushroom down in the city she was in and we agreed to meet there. Naturally, I didn’t even have time to run home and change, I had to run straight from the storage unit with a truck full of junk wearing nothing but a t-shirt and jeans and two days of stubble on my face. I barely had time to stop and buy new shoes (like I said, I overslept) because mine were crappy.

I rolled up on the restaurant about ten minutes late (I hate Atlanta traffic) but it was all good. It was a little funny, at least I thought it was, when she walked up behind me and I had to ask if it was her. She must have sent me older pictures of herself, or she’s changed her hair or something. Also, she’s almost as tall as I am. Somehow I got the impression (or just made the assumption) that she was a little taller than my shoulder height. I guess since that’s the typical height of the girls I’ve dated before I might have just assumed…who knows.

So we had a pizza. It took us a bit to get warmed up, but we got to talking while we were waiting and during lunch and after and all told I think I left at five-ish, which is pretty cool since we didn’t meet until one-thirty. One of her friends called and met up with us and they wandered off as we wrapped things up. Something about a pumpkin farm, the location and operating hours of which were being debated.

It went well. We agreed we should do this again, we hugged. Not a face-to-face hug but a side hug, but it was a good one. I got a text from her later that night asking if I’d made it home ok and I told her yes. I like her. I think it would be easier to spend time together and see if this is going to go anywhere if we lived closer, but she’s got school and I’ve got work and I’ve heard a nasty rumor that we just lost a manager so there isn’t going to be anyone allowed to transfer until she’s replaced, which will probably be January if at all. There’s too much upheaval right now with the new program being put in place for them to get us anyone any sooner.

So it was good. There’s potential, at least I think there is, I don’t know her opinion of the situation, and historically that has been an issue with me after all. I need to text her, but it’s really late and I don’t know if she’s up. And it’s Sunday, and I don’t know her class schedule. I don’t want to wake her up if she’s got an early class tomorrow. And she seems to be a lot like me in that an early class is anything before noon…

In other news I made my choice between the XBox and the iPhone and got an iPhone. Yay me! I’m already in love with it and I’ve only had it since Thursday night (I bought it on the way home). The iPhone is absolutely the best hand held device I have *ever* owned. Without a doubt. And no, Apple isn’t paying me to say that, lol. It does everything I want it to do, and it does it well. The fact that I already use Macs at home and have had a MobileMe account since it was called .Mac makes it even better since it seamlessly integrated into my routine. To give you an idea how seamless: between the time the lady at the AT&T store activated my phone and the time she finished putting it in it’s new case (it’s an OtterBox Defender Series, hideously expensive but cheaper than another phone) which took about five or six minutes, the phone had already reached out to the MobileMe Cloud and downloaded all my contacts and calendar information. It didn’t just *know* who I am, while she was trying to get the case out of the retail packaging I flipped over to the settings page and gave it my MobileMe information right before I gave it back to her.

After I got home I downloaded some apps (duh!). The only reason I waited was because I was driving and I think trying to use the App Store while driving counts as "Distracted Driving" in Georgia. Want to cause an accident and lose your license? There’s an app for that…

So of course I got a To Do app, since the one built into the OS will not do repeating tasks and no one can seem to explain to me why when *every* other time management device and desktop software package will. I got an app that lets me order from Pizza Hut (if the local stores are accepting Internet orders, which mine does now), a Sudoku game, the social networking stand-bys of course, put an OD Mobile shortcut on it, and just today added a TiVo.com shortcut to the home screen and downloaded a free app that uses phone directory listing to tell me where all the pizza places in the area are. And of course it knows where I am better than I do half the time.

And of course, since I *do* watch CSI and NCIS, I’ve started carrying enough aluminum foil to completely encase the phone should I desire total privacy. I don’t trust the "off" switch on the GPS circuits, and the foil should form a Faraday cage around the phone making it impossible to send or receive RF signals. Of course I could be wrong too…I can always make a hat of it. The foil I mean, to keep the aliens from reading my mind.

That’s all I’ve got for now. Going to K’s birthday party tomorrow. I gother Barbie and the Three Musketeers. Her dad was going to have a party for her on Saturday but the friends he has that have kids got called in to work at the plant on Saturday, so it was just the two of them. She’s so funny though: while he was in the shower she went into his bedroom and opened all her gifts, and then she cleaned up and threw the wrapping paper away! She’s too cute.

Gonna put a task in my phone to send Nala a text tomorrow so I don’t forget…
