Ch-ch-changes

Wednesday was Misty’s last day at my store. I’m supposed to be getting an invite to the wedding but I don’t know if I’ll get to go or not. She’s really upset I can’t make it to AWA this year and wanted me to try for DragonCon instead. I gently reminded her that DragonCon is on Labor Day weekend and I am not only a retail manager, but I’m in charge of the operations piece at my store whch includes the check-outs. Probably not gonna happen.

The senior manager who’s been with us the longest has just been promoted to facility manager. He’s getting a store where the morale is a bit low since the former facility manager was demoted for poor performance even though they got the highest bonus possible for a store that size. It seems their budget was fixed to make that happen. They are the only store that size in the whole region to get that size bonus. That’s one of the reasons the facility manager was removed, and also played a part in our district manager losing her job as well. I hope he does well, but I won’t be joining him as a senior manager anytime soon. He has two strong senior managers already and they have nowhere to go – people don’t get moved or promoted out of problem stores you see. They either fix the problem or they get fired or demoted.

Going in overnight tonight and tomorrow night. Really don’t want to but I know they had to have asked everyone else that was capable before they asked me since they know how much I hate it. Normally one of the senior managers would cover vacations and stuff like I’m doing but the one that just got promoted can’t because of family issuses and the other one isn’t any good at it so why bother.
