Not gonna do it. Wouldn’t be prudent.

Not gonna do a recap. Not gonna list resolutions, hopes, dreams, all that stuff. Everytime I do the few things in my life I thought were stable as bedrock and always going to be there vanish. Nope, not gonna do it.

I got my Christmas decorations down on the afternoon of the first, probably a new record for me. I’ve always hated taking them down, but this year it really didn’t seem to bother me. That may be a result of therapy or maybe my medication. Who knows. At any rate I made sure all the lights were still working when they got packed up this year (I must have packed up a couple of bad strands by mistake last year) so that shouldn’t be much of an issue next year. I also bought another wreath and another bow to continue the decorations further around the porch next year since they were half off. I scored two strands of icicle lights too, and let me tell you those things are expensive. Four bucks a pop even at half off.

I just want my time on overnights to be over. I’m tired of it. We can’t hire anyone else until at least March, and I’m already losing people. I’m short staffed and yet dayshift is just making up schedules for people who only want to work when it’s convenient for them, not when we actually need them, so we’re over payroll. I say fill the shifts with people that have open availability, then fill in what’s left over with the people that have limited availability but can still work a few shifts when we actually need them, and if the people left out can’t work the shifts left over then too damn bad for them. I knew when I went into fast food, then hospitality, and then retail, that there were precious few jobs that were 0800-1700 Monay thru Friday and I’d have to work when they needed me or I wouldn’t work at all. Why don’t people seem to realize that most of our customer traffic is from 1700-2400 and we don’t need three-quaters of  the people employed at my facility working 0800-1700. Where’s the sense in it?

It seems I get a little grumpy when my neighbor being noisy wakes me up in the wee hours of the morning. And it’s something like twenty-three degrees outside, so the heater is fighting to keep my bedroom in the mid-sixties. I really need to go through the place and re-do the weather stripping on all the doors and around the window A/C units. I know, the landlord should be doing that, but he feels that as long as the windows and doors keep the water and critters out he’s done his part. Besides, every single one of the doors and windows in my apartment needs to be replaced, and at about a thousand dollars a pop for a *good* weather-tight low maintenance door (and that’s just the hardware, installation is more) it ain’t gonna happen anytime soon. Not with eight exterior doors. I can buy some of that foamy stuff for the windows and I’ll get some replacement weather stripping from Wal-Mart, I checked and they have exactly what I need.
