Oh My God

Got a call from work today.

The store in Anchorage really really really wants to talk to me.

It seems I’m the *only* let me repeat *only* manager in the entire company that applied for the opening. The jobs mine if I want it. I have to sign a two year agreement if I take it.

I was told by one of the senior managers that Queeg sends the following message, and I’ll paraphrase: If I’m leaving because I want to go, because this is something I want to do, then they are all behind me 100%. If I’m leaving because of the way she talks to me in the morning (it seems someone has put that bug in her ear, wonder why) then she apologizes, and if she had known it bothered me she would not have talked to us that way.

He went on to say I’m doing really well with this new system we have for overnights, and that I’m better with the computer parts of it than they are.

I have to call Alaska back today. I had no idea I was going to be the only candidate. Now what the hell do I do?

Umm, let’s see what to do…. DUH! Go to Alaska. 🙂 If you didn’t have any interest at all you wouldn’t have applied, ya know? 😉 Congratulations!

I say go for it. It sounds like you’re in a position to make a big life change, and this is perfect. Alaska is beautiful, and the people are pretty friendly (one of my best friends lives in Anchorage, he went to school in Fairbanks – very different from where we grew up in Miami!). At least see if they’ll fly you out for an interview so you can see if you like it! Be careful with Critter’s kids. I know you’re attached to them, but I’ve seen situations like this where the guy ends up just getting really, really hurt.

Well…personally…with Queeg it’s too little too late. She would have stopped if she knew it bothered you? How in the hell could she not have known? You’re in for a tough decision. If you really, really want to go to Alaska..go for it!

I vote do what you want to, and I will still come and visit whereever you are.
