In Seattle
Finally at my parents’ place in Seattle. That was the longest thirty-odd hours of my life.
I left work around 0900 and went straight to Chattanooga where my plane didn’t leave for Atlanta until 1600. Killed some time and the last of my last paycheck at the mall.
Flew in to Atlanta and had a four hour lay-over before boarding my flight to Sea-Tac. That took five hours. Did I mention that I had been up for twenty-five hours before even boarded the plane in Atlanta? Yeah, no sense driving sixty miles out of my way to go home and take a nap before embarking on my vacation, right?
Talked to Ember some last night. She had a rough night. I really wanted to leave work and come home for her but I was the only manager there since my new Tuesday night partner called in sick.
We had a spanking night, BTW. I had both sides of the store and it looked damn good in hte morning when we walked. The senior manager walking with me questioned why the "other" side of the store, the one I don’t normally do, looked so good when I was by myself and usually looked so bad when there was someone else there. I told him I send help when I can but I don’t tell the other managers what to do with them. Then he asked something about why I never did that side of the store, he thought I didn’t have experience there. I asked him if he’d ever seen Quigley Down Under, and he said yes. So I told him I never said I *couldn’t* do that side of the store, just that I didn’t *like* that side of the store. He laughed really hard and sent me packing only an hour late, and that was because he was almost forty minutes late himself, not because the store looked bad.
Talked to Ember some more today once I got to Atlanta, and she’s doing better. She was shopping in Critter’s store and happened to be with her when I called, so she relayed greetings back and forth.
That’s all I got for now. I’m gonna take lots of pics for Critter (she asked me to) and I might post some of them when I get home.
On another note, one of my regular readers and faves died of an accidental drowning at her home this past Saturday. I just found out last night (Tuesday). I’m assuming it was in the pool but I’m not sure if the pool she sometmes mentioned was actually at her house or at her mom’s place (they both lived on the same rather large piece of land as I understand it). Her husband had just left her so she was home alone and could have fallen asleep in the tub too, but who knows. She will be missed.
Well…when you were in Chattanooga you were only about 40 miles from me. How sad about your fave…. 🙁
