Just the good ole boys…

I had such a Dukes of Hazzard moment coming home from work today. I might even have to go out and buy an air horn for the truck. There were a string of us tooling along about ten miles an hour over the speed limit on the mountain road when, of course, a deputy sherrif passes us going the other way. As he rounds the bend I see his tail lights come on and for reasons known only to God and dumb drivers everyone in front of me was slowing down too. I figure at this point if he wants us he’s got us, but a little voice went off in my head that said "FLOOR IT! YOU’RE ONLY TWO HUNDRED YARDS FROM THE COUNTY LINE!" as if it mattered. But I did. And I made it over the line before said deputy got turned completely around. I don’t know if he got anyone else but I managed to get by with it this time, and since trucks the color of mine are common as cowpats around here unless someone coughed up my plate I’m good, but I have to behave for a few weeks.

Captain Queeg is on vacation, but she keeps calling and giving instructions over the phone. I suggested that next time she calls we put her on speaker and all say "Good Morning Charlie!" but I don’t think that would go over very well with her.

My crew had a rough time of it last night and I don’t know why. Two of them just fell apart on me and there was nothing I could do last night to fix it. I’m going to sit them down separately tonight and have a little talk with them to make sure it doesn’t happen again. And of course my cleaning crew totally screwed up on me and that caused some major embarrassment for me and I can assure you that will never happen again (cue Imperial March [Darth Vader’s Theme]).

That’s all I got for now. I’m on vacation effective 0800 (or so) Wednesday morning for ten glorious days. I’m considering going to a clothing optional resort but with gas the way it is and my engine not quite right (I’ve dropped from 17/18 MPG to 15) I don’t know. I’ll think about it. If nothing else I should be able to spend some time with Critter and Ember and that’ll be fun too.

This was hilarious! Great for a Monday morning read. 🙂 And to think the Dukes of Hazzard was my favorite show growing up! Out of sheer principle in humor, you should definitely answer the phone that way. 🙂 Some people take themselves WAAYY too seriously.
