Unbelievable

And I ask myself why I’m even surprised.

My side of the store got done. Just barely, but we got done. We took more freight to the back than is normal for us, but as the day shift people started coming in they were telling me things like, "good, the special display of [INSERT OVERSTOCK ITEM HERE] I ordered came in, I know just where to put it." But I had freight on the floor and she was NOT a happy camper because of it. I had fifteen pallets of one particular item come in and I managed to re-stack the pallets and re-work some displays and got it down to ten and racked them. That was also unacceptable. I needed to find a home for them, never mind that we have these things displayed all over the store and they still aren’t selling. What the hell was I supposed to do? Build a thirty-foot long mega display out on the sidewalk? Even the hourly manager they belong to is wondering where the hell she wants them.

To top it all off the other side did not get done. Of course not, I didn’t send them any help because we were too busy. SO why am I just now posting his at the ungodly hour of 1036 when my shift was allegedly over at 0800? Because the other side didn’t get done is why. I was made to stay and work freight that they should have gotten to along with the other manager, you know, the one who can’t manage. I was in a section of the store that I don’t shop in and haven’t been in since my first week on overnights. I still threw two carts to his one, and was a damn sight faster than his stockers apparently are. Why is that? Hell, *how* is that? Could it be his stockers are taking advantage of him because they know he spends all his time throwing freight instead of managing? I think probably so.

I’d offer to switch with him but I don’t want to have to stay late to fix the side of the store I’ve got running smoothly after he screws it up.

Oh, and to top it all off he makes more than I do. Yeah, apparently "Base Pay" isn’t the same for everyone, and he not only started off making more than I did but he got a bigger raise than I did because our raises are percentage based, so even though we both got the same 4.5% raise (why they couldn’t pony up the extra .5% I’ll never understand) he got a bigger raise than I did because 4.5% of x is less than 4.5% of (x+1000).

This sucks so bad it isn’t even funny.

That does suck… my dh used to work the over night team at a hardware store that liked the color orange and he said it was a pain.

It’s a pretty depressing realization that someone so less deserving makes more money…
