Wow

We got out extraordinarily early today, only half an hour late. The store looked really good, but of course she found things that weren’t right. I suppose that is her job and all.

Didn’t have the grumpiness today, just a bone deep weariness which I attribute to not enough sleep. I only just made it out of bed in time as it was.

Ember called last night and needed my opinion on something, and I gave it. I asked her’s on something as well, and was rewarded with same. Ember’s a little conflicted right now, but I think she’ll be OK. Amber’s coming up to stay the night tonight and they’ll probably spend a lot of time talking.

Some old folks practically jumped out in front of me as I was cruising along at fifty-five miles an hour down the highway. The folks in both lanes behind me locked up their brakes and smoke was going everywhere but it was far to late for me to try to stop; I’d have lost positive control and hit them for sure. So I tapped the brakes to try to give them time to at least clear my lane and moved as far to the right as I could without going onto the sidewalk and blew past. I think they might have had three feet of clearance between my mirror and their backs.I don’t know what possessed them to step out into traffic like that; they had to have seen me and the others. I’m fairly certain none of the cars behind me hit each other, but they did stop dead in the road to block traffic for the two pedestrians. I do feel bad about going by like I did but they were well inside my braking threshold.

My TiVo is installing a service update. I don’t know why it couldn’t do this last night. I mean really, it knows when the stuff I *want* it to record is coming on, it knows when the stuff it thinks I’d like is coming on, surely sometime in the past  thirteen hours since I last cleaned out the "Suggestions" folder it could have found a spare hour to re-boot itself and install the update. OK, it just finished, and if the update was just the change in start-up animation I’m gonna be a little pissed.

I installed a new air filter in the truck last night, hoping that would clear the "Check Engine" light because it was filthy. I normally change it every third oil change but I must have forgotten last time. So far no joy, but I can’t get over to AutoZone to see if they’ll check it for me until Wednesday or Thursday so if crappy airflow was the problem maybe it’ll clear out by then.

‘Night all!
