Rested now (UPDATE)

Good news! My sister had #5 at 21:52, Wednesday, April 9, 2008, 7lbs 7oz. Yay for her! This will be the last one since my brother-in-law got fixed. When I mentioned that doesn’t always work, I was told that they had checked twice at the lab to make sure and they should be ok now. Of course I have no idea of the sex of the baby or it’s name, which would just be extraneous information you see….

Anyway, I’ve only been up for about half an hour, and the day is only an hour older than that. Ember is going out of town for the weekend, which I knew but somehow had managed to forget in all the hurly-burly at work. And I didn’t put it on my calendar, so that may be part of the problem.

Speaking of calendars, I see that I totally screwed up my next therapy appointment. I accidentally scheduled it for next week instead of two weeks out. I’ll call when they open and get it fixed. I have to go to a psychiatrist next Thursday so he can confirm the ADHD diagnosis and medicate me. My therapist wants to see me the week after, probably so she can see if the medicine is working and I’ll have had a chance to get used to it and see if there are any unpleasant side-effects that we need to discuss. As long as I’m not zombified and all my parts work like I want them to  when I want them to I’m fine.

Might be spending some time with Critter tonight but we aren’t sure. K’s daddy gets her every weekend, and D & B’s daddy might be getting them this weekend so we’d be able to hang out and relax and just do whatever we wanted to do without having to worry about getting the kids home for bed or setting a good example as adult role models or anything. I apologized to Critter yesterday because I thought I had over-stepped some the last time we had all spent time together (her, me , the kids). The kids were not listening to her at all and there were safety issues at hand so I fell into “dad” mode and barked a little. Of course they fell pretty much into line (and that wasn’t because it was me, it was because the voice yelling at them was male, a total stranger would probably have been just as effective) but looking back on it I really don’t think I should have. Critter said it was fine, it wasn’t like I wasn’t telling them things she had not already told them, so not to worry. I explained that it bugged me to see them just ignore her that way. The phrase “they will comply! ” was used and I think that little joke eased the situation a little, even if the tension was only in my own mind.

Oh yeah! Before Critter and I came back home we went by my parent’s place so I could get the mail from their box by the street and check on the place, and I saw something at I had seen last week but forgotten about, which I’m a little surprised at because it bugged the stew out of me.

Back when the log home was their holiday/vacation home, my parents installed a little key box with a combination lock on it next to the front door so my sister and I could use the place if they weren’t there and they didn’t have to worry about not being able to get in if they forgot the key or anything. Well, it seems like the last time they were in town my dad added a little note in permanent marker with emergency contact information. Smart move, except the first number he listed is his cell phone and the second number he listed is my brother-in-law’s cell phone. No mention whatever of me at all, yet I’m the one who has been tasked with going up there to check on the place regularly, and am the only member of the family that lives within a hundred miles of the place. Sometimes I have to wonder what goes on in my father’s head.

***UPDATE***
Just got off the phone with my mom and she swears she’s been telling me for the past three months that it would be a baby boy and what the name was. I’m a little ditzy but I’m sure if she’d been repeating it that long I would probably have remembered. Anyway, it’s a boy!
