Update on the Eye and Sammie called!

Went to the eye doctor, and even with me half-blind she’s still smokin’. Yeah, I’m a pig. I did notice a ring on her left hand though, never noticed that before. Bummer. Not that I ever actually had a shot, but it’s one of those guy things.

She said I’ll be able to wear contacts again after this heals up, so no worries there, and she’s going to change me over to a healthier kind of lens at my next exam so this doesn’t happen again. She said there was nothing wrong with the old lenses, it’s just that technology has improved, and no one makes that style anymore anyway, they’re just selling through old stock. She also said I was lucky as to where the ulceration formed. She said if it had been so much as a millimeter off in almost any direction it would be impairing my vision to a significant degree, rather than just the slight haze I have now.

When I came downstairs this morning the lights were still on and there was no Amanda, so I guess either things went really well and she spent the night with boyfriend or things went really bad and she went back home, don’t know which. I sent an e-mail off and left a message on her machine, so I’ll keep everyone updated.

Ember got a phone call from Sammie today! She’s so happy! He finally got the phone card she sent him. I thought he had packed one but I guess I was wrong. Anyway, he won’t get to ride home from graduation with us, but his “A” school is just three hours away from here, so they’ll get to see each other semi-regularly. Also, if his school doesn’t start immediately after boot camp, he’ll have some leave built up and may be able to come home after her reports in at the base. I guess he’s going to buy the crotch rocket he wants, but I think he’d be better off spending that down payment on a good used Toyota or Honda. Whatever. It’s not my money.

So Ember had a really good day and I had an OK one. I’m waiting for tonight’s percocet to kick in, because the new antibiotic drops I’m on don’t have a numbing agent in them like the old ones did. When that happens I’ll either fall right off to sleep or start having a really good day.
