Laughter and then some

I can’t even say how much I love my relationship with my daughter

Sure, we have had our rocky bits over the years, and that’s expected since its just been the two of us (with a sprinkling of the parents thrown in of course), but we’ve evolved into really good friends, roommates and more than just a mom and daughter

There are some weeks that we hardly see each other.  I am off to school in the evenings and she’s off with her friends, and we pass each other briefly in the morning while she’s off to work and I am off to the kitchen for the morning chai

The moments that we get to spend together, like on the weekends that I am not working and she’s not with her friends, are amazing.  We have SO much fun together…we have our little inside jokes and we find the humor in just about everything

Got her to roast the pumpkins and the butternut squash for this soup I wanted to try and then we realized while I was shopping that we needed to get some onions caramelized as well so I set her to doing that as well

Got home and she was of course acting like she was dying without any food, and I was distracted with email and my phone

Dinner made, we talked about the process of the making of this soup (WAY too many steps) and how everything tastes better with brown butter.  We watched tv and then switched over to the World Series, we’re not fans of either team, although we really wanted the Phillies to win.  We like to watch the big celebration after the win and we definitely had fun watching that

When she heard that they were playing "We Are the Champions", she started singing it, and then I started in as well.  At the top of our lungs, we were singing that song.  At the end, totally out of breath, we did the Ricky Bobby’s driver’s license photo shot…the one where he holds up his finger for the #1 sign and goes WOOOOOOO!

Then of course, because I know this makes her laugh, I started singing it again, out of tune.  By the time i was done, we were both laughing so hard, she was crying and I couldn’t breathe from singing so badly

I so wish that people can see her for who she really is…she’s such an amazing young lady and really bright and funny.  She comes across as unapproachable and cold…she’s so far from that

We don’t have many moments together like that, I so cherish them when we do
