I’m awake now

Our CEO called us into the kitchen and said the following:

Because of the economy, one of our investors decided not to loan us the bridge money to keep the company afloat

Because of that, effective immediately, we are closing the doors

You can use your PTO until the 14th when we will contact all of you of what’s going to happen.  The company will be in suspended animation until then.  We will let you know at that time if you are all laid off or if we want you to come back to work

I was fine sitting there listening to all of this, and because I knew this was coming in some form, wasn’t really affected by it

That is, until our CEO started crying, then a lot of people lost it.  I mean, how can you not lose it when this captain of industry starts crying in front of you?

So here I sit, at my desk, until the end of the day, then I am off (I think) like the rest of the company

Good thing I have PTO saved (which I was going to use for Christmas presents)
