‘Tis the Season

A Christmas Survey

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? wrapping paper

2. Real tree or artificial? Artificial, but only because I don’t like the constant clean up after a real tree.

3. When do you put up the tree? Whenever the mood strikes me and I have the time to do it.

4. When do you take the tree down? Whenever I get tired of it and want my living room back!

5. Do you like eggnog? Yes, either by itself or with a tiny splash of rum.  Yum!

6. Favorite gift received as a child? My Pomeranian puppy when I was 8.

7. Hardest person to buy for? My husband and Mom.

8. Easiest person to buy for? My oldest son.

9. Do you have a nativity scene? Yes

10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail.

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? My husband has come up with a few duds over the years (tshirt with a painted/glittered peacock on it and a pair of peacock feather earrings to go along with it).  And while I guess it’s not the *worst* gift I hate getting it because I get it every year and that is socks from my MIL.

12. Favorite Christmas movie?Miracle on 34th Street, Charlie Brown Christmas, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? I pick things up here and there throughout the year but I generally have the majority of my shopping done by Thanksgiving.  But this year I started on Black Friday and have a ways to go yet.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Nope!  Have thought about it but never actually did it.

15. Do you have any Christmas "traditions"? We drive around and look at Christmas lights, open gifts and then have a big Christmas dinner on Christmas.

16. Lights on the tree? Multi-colored.

17. Favorite Christmas song? O Holy Night

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Growing up it was always stay at home with family.  Last year was the first year we had my Mom come to our house for Christmas.  But no matter what, Christmas is meant to spend with family whether it be at their house or yours.

19. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer? Yep

20. Angel or star on top of the tree?It used to be an angel.  But we’ve started putting a star on top because my son picked it out and wanted it on the tree.

21. Open presents on Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas Eve

22. Most annoying things about this time of the year? SNOW!  lol  But otherwise the crowds of people in stores.  I hate that it takes so much longer to do routine things because of the hordes of people aimlessly wandering around.

23. Favorite ornament theme or color? Our tree is usually blue and silver for color.  But when DH and I got married we started a tradition of choosing one ornament from our travels or that has some significance for that particular year so that our tree will eventually "tell a story" as the years pass.  And of course, the kids get an ornament now too.

24. Turkey or ham for Christmas dinner? Ham.

25. What do you want for Christmas this year? I seriously only asked for a couple of small things that I could use.  Simple things like gift certificates to B&N so I can buy a new book when I want to, new perfume; nothing extravagant or frivolous.
