Weekend Getaway

I am still patiently waiting…and praying…that my period does not show up in the next few days.  I have had some things going on with my body that I think may be signs, but I am trying to not get my hopes up.  Only time will tell…

So to get my mind off things this weekend, we made a quick decision to head to Colorado Springs.  My parents came over about 9:30 Saturday morning and we hit the road.  We headed to Manitou Springs first and spent some time at the Penny Arcade there that afternoon.  All of us had a lot of fun playing old-school video games; it was neat!  Then we headed to check in at the hotel and then went to church. It was interesting because an old priest that had been in my hometown growing up just happened to be in the church where we went filling in for the evening.  Next we headed to Lowe’s to look at lights for our dining room (we just got a new table about a week ago from Ashley Furniture), went to the Mall to get some clothes for the guys at Steve & Barry’s, and then finished the night with supper at Joe’s Crab Shack.  We were all exhausted and headed back to the hotel.

Sunday we got up, had breakfast, and then headed out shopping.  We stopped at Home Depot and then returned to Lowe’s for a light fixture.  We also stopped at the mall for a while before heading back home.  My dad had something going on at church last night, so we had to be home at a decent hour.  When we got home, I just crashed on the couch and was lazy all evening.  I have been really tired lately, so I’m trying to not overdo it at night so that I’m rested for the kiddos at work.

Speaking of work, it has been stressful lately.  I am trying to keep my patience with some of them, but I can tell that it’s time for a break.  I feel as though I have to ask a few of them to do the same thing over and over again and then repeat it all the next day.  It gets frustrating.  I am also trying to figure out how to motivate a few of my students so that they will actually try on their work instead of just write something down.  It’s frustrating because if I ask them questions out loud, they know it all.  It’s just that they don’t want to go to the work of writing it down, so they make up simple answers and would rather get them all wrong.  This worries me because they’re still so young.  I don’t want them to get in the habit of not taking time on their work now.  I think we all need a snow day or two, and that would help rejuvenate me!!  🙂  Unfortunately, snow hasn’t really been in our forecast much this year.  What a disappointment.

Well, I need to wrap this up and think about getting some supper ready.  I have been so hungry since after school, but I’ve tried to hold off on eating until a bit later so that I’m not hungry again before bedtime.  A little less snacking will definitely not do my any harm.  I knew it had been a while since I’d written, so I thought I’d drop in and say hello and give a quick update!

Have a great week!
