Such a Good Housekeeper!
At least I am pretending for one day that I am such a good housekeeper! There’s something about a clean house that makes me feel really good and like I can truly sit back and relax. I really want to leave the house in great shape when we head off for Orlando this week, so I am busy trying to get everything done today.
I did a good job last week of getting a majority of the laundry done as well as going to the bank and taking care of transferring money as well as getting money for the trip. So, that is all taken care of! Trent and I also went shopping last night for a few clothes needed for the trip as well as food to take along for snacks and breakfast (that saved us a lot of money last time we went to Disney World). I think all of the errands are run, so I am feeling pretty good about the trip! When we left for Colorado right after me finishing my last day at school, I felt as though I left the house in shambles because I had spent all of my time in my classroom getting it packed up rather than being here at home getting things done. I don’t want to come home to that kind of mess again!
So far today I have
-vacuumed the house
-mopped the kitchen, entry way, and bathrooms
-dusted the whole house
-gathered some of the trash and taken it to the garage
-cleaned the bathrooms
-started a load of laundry
I basically just have to finish picking up a few things, do some more laundry, and then clean the kitchen tonight after I cook supper. Then the house will be in good shape! Oh, and I have to repot some flowers I got from a student. I put them in a smaller pot, and those flowers grew like crazy this past week that now they were way too big for the pot I put them in. I have never had flowers grow like that! So, I bought a bigger pot and I need to get them moved over before we go.
Trent and I spent most of yesterday with my parents. We met them for lunch at Subway and then went to their house to visit. We rarely get the chance to do that it seems during the year because I often hate to spend Sundays away from home when I know I have to teach the next day. We need to do a better job of going and visiting, though, because I really enjoy it. I got some things done for my mom on her computer that she wasn’t sure how to do, so hopefully they’re all set up for a while. We were going to see Trent’s parents last night, too, but it took me too long on my parents’ computer. His parents are coming over tonight anyway, though, since Trent and his dad bowl here in town on Mondays. So I cook supper for them and then I spend some time with my mother-in-law while they bowl. We are going to celebrate Father’s Day with his dad tonight since we’ll be gone this upcoming weekend (we celebrated with my dad yesterday). I am looking forward to seeing them; we haven’t been to their house to visit in a while like we normally do.
I am not sure if I have written about this in a previous entry, but Trent’s cousin is in Orlando doing an intership this summer, so she’s planning to drive up to Disney World Saturday to spend the day with us. She’s never been to Disney World, so we wanted to treat her to a day with Mickey and Goofy! She sounds pretty excited, and I am too! I love Katie, and the two of us have a lot of fun when we’re together. I just hope that everything works out so that she can make it to see us. It’s funny how she normally only lives about 2 hours from us, and we rarely see her. We’re going to travel 1/2 way across the country to spend a day together! HA!
Sorry you have all had to listen about Disney forever now. I am just so excited for this trip! Trent and I don’t often splurge and spend this type of money on ourselves, but we really wanted to make sure we got one more big vacation with just the two of us before any babies come along. So this will be a great break from everything and to just have some time together. The last time we were at Disney World was our honeymoon, so it’ll always be a special place for us to visit.
We are headed to Denver tomorrow to stay with a friend before flying out Wednesday. I am glad we’ll have tomorrow night to take him and his girlfriend out to dinner. They are such a fun couple! So I best get back to work now and get some things done so that I can start pulling clothes out of the closet to pack! If I don’t talk to any of you before we head out tomorrow, I hope you all have a blessed week!

I, like you, adore Disney. It’s really refreshing and carefree, which I love. I’m sure you and Trent will have a fabulous time away. Enjoy yourselves! It’s always nice to leave with the house clean because that means when you arrive back from your trip it’ll still look wonderful and inviting. Ashley
