We’re Home!

I have been terrible about writing lately.  My last week of school just flew by, and I was swamped working in my room trying to get everything packed up and ready for them to move next door into my new room for next year.  I spent lots of hours at night there and then in the meantime was trying to get ready for our week-long trip to Colorado.  We just got home from our trip, so now it’s time to catch up!

My last week of school went really well with the kids.  I always try to take time that last week to think back on the year and all of the great times we’ve had.  Although there were challenges, the year was fantastic in many ways!  I put together memory books for the kids and went through and found pictures of them throughout the year.  It was fun, and I hope they all enjoyed them once they got home from the last day of school.  They were definitely a bunch that could make me laugh and smile, and there were many days that they cheered me up and made me feel like the best teacher in the world.  The feeling coming from your students is worth more than any salary around!

Trent and I were then headed to  Colorado for a week to spend some time with family members of his and also watch the Junior College Baseball World Series.  We planned on heading out right after school that Friday, but then got a call that my uncle had suffered a heart attack that morning.  So we made a detour and headed east to see him before we turned around and headed west the next day!  He’s doing well and now just has to watch what he eats and work on losing some weight.  Hopefully that all goes well and that it helps him be healthier.

We had a great time in Colorado.  It’s always fun to spend time with family that we don’t see very often and get to do some things we don’t normally do.  We watched A LOT of baseball, which was fun.  We also did some shopping and went to a fun center one day with Trent’s cousin’s son.  It was fun and kind of nice to get away.  We didn’t do anything major for our 2nd anniversary, but our Disney trip is kind of in celebration of that.  We did receive nice cards from family, which is always nice, and we went out to eat together while in Colorado.  Just being together was good enough!

I do have to admit that it feels good to be back at home now.  I have a lot of housework to do tomorrow to get caught up because I kind of let things go the last week or two of school.  So now is my chance to get caught up and get some things done.  I hope to do a lot of that tomorrow so that I can relax and enjoy time off the rest of the week.  We leave for Disney a week from Wednesday, so I want to enjoy some down time before we up and go again!  Our whole month of June is going to be on the go, but then hopefully July will be a quiet month.  We are really excited for our trip together, but I am tired for now and need a bit of a break here at home before leaving again!  It’s great to go somewhere, but it’s also always so nice to come home to your own bed!  🙂

Well, I need to finish up a load of laundry and then I’m heading to bed.  I hope to be up at a decent hour so that I can get lots of things done around the house before tomorrow evening when my mother-in-law will be here.  I also have to come up with something to feed the in-laws for supper tomorrow night!  Hope you all had a great Memorial Day holiday and that things are going well!  I am off for now…

I’m glad you had such a good time away! That makes me happy to hear. Disney should be great! The weather will hopefully be warm and it shouldn’t be too busy as schools will just be letting out. Good luck getting housework done. Ashley
